# Legend of the Galactic Heroes Watch Order Also known as: Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu, LoGH, Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, Gin'eiden Source: https://www.animechrono.com/franchise/legend-of-the-galactic-heroes Last updated: 2026-10-31 Last checked against current sources: 2026-10-30 AnimeChrono watch orders put every season, movie, OVA, ONA and special in chronological story order, mark optional entries, say where to start, and are maintained by signed-in fans with versioned edits that can be reverted (10 entries in this order). The Legend of the Galactic Heroes watch order has two paths. The classic path begins with My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars (1988), a film that introduces the rival commanders Reinhard von Lohengramm of the Galactic Empire and Yang Wen-li of the Free Planets Alliance. Then watch the main story, the 110-episode OVA (Episodes 1-110, 1988-1997). Overture to a New War (1993) is an optional film that retells the Battle of Astarte, which OVA episodes 1-2 also cover, so watch one or the other. Golden Wings (1992) and the two Gaiden series, A Hundred Billion Stars (Episodes 1-24) and Spiral Labyrinth (Episodes 1-28), are prequels made later; they are optional and best watched after the main OVA. The second path is Die Neue These, a modern remake in four 12-episode seasons (2018-2022): Kaikou, Seiran, Gekitotsu and Sakubou. It is still incomplete, and a continuation has been announced without a date. ## Recommended first watch Watch My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars (film), then the 110-episode OVA; Overture to a New War is an optional alternative to OVA episodes 1-2.
