The Neon Genesis Evangelion watch order is the 26-episode series followed by five films, including The End of Evangelion and the Rebuild trilogy. Start with episodes 1-23, then watch episodes 24, 25 and 26 — each available in either its broadcast form or the director's cut, so pick one version per episode. After the series, the correct order moves to Death and Rebirth, which recaps the show and previews its ending, and then The End of Evangelion, the theatrical alternate finale that most viewers treat as the true conclusion. From there you continue into the Rebuild retelling: Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance and 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, a reimagining of the story with a new trajectory. Watching in this sequence experiences Hideaki Anno's original vision first before the modern films. If you're wondering where to start, episode 1 of the TV series is the essential entry point.
