Where to start Detective Conan: begin with episodes 1-28 (January 1996) and keep going in broadcast order; the 29 films, OVAs and specials are optional extras, each placed at the point it came out. If 1,200 episodes feel like too much, most cases are self-contained, so you can watch the Black Organization story episodes and favorite cases instead. This Detective Conan watch order threads the TV series (episode 1218 is the latest as of November 2026) together with every theatrical film from The Time-Bombed Skyscraper (1997) to Fallen Angel of the Highway (2026), a dozen OVAs, the TV specials and the Zero's Tea Time and Culprit Hanzawa spin-offs. The first movie comes after episode 54, and each yearly film sits after the episodes that aired before its April release. Film 30 is due in April 2027 and will be added once it has a title and date.
Start at episode 1 and follow the order below; Conan is mostly episodic, so you can also jump in at almost any point. The Black Organization story appears now and then between the stand-alone cases.
The OVAs, TV specials, spin-offs and yearly films are standalone stories and optional.
The TV series is still airing (episode 1218 is the latest as of 2 November 2026), so the last episode row will keep growing.

Watch Detective Conan in this order. 112 entries, chronological.
AnimeChrono watch orders put every season, movie, OVA, ONA and special for a franchise in chronological story order, the order the events happen. When an OVA or movie takes place partway through a season, the episode range is split so it sits where it belongs. Entries you can skip are marked optional, and each order says where to start. Release order, sorted by air date, is a secondary view once every entry has a date. The orders began as a hand-curated set, and episode counts and air dates come from AniList. Fans maintain the orders from there. Any signed-in user can edit one. Edits from trusted contributors go live right away and the rest are reviewed first. Every change is versioned and can be reverted, and each order shows when it was last updated and last checked.

Start at episode 1 (January 1996) and watch in broadcast order. If you want a quicker on-ramp, the Episode "ONE" TV special (2016) retells the first episode, and most later cases stand alone. Add the films whenever you reach them; they are optional.
No. Most episodes are self-contained mysteries, so you can start from episode 1 and skip around. The ongoing Black Organization storyline shows up between cases, so follow the broadcast order if you want that thread.
No. The yearly films, from The Time-Bombed Skyscraper (April 1997) onward, are original stories, and the TV episodes do not depend on them. They are optional; watch any that sound fun.
