Review - Kanojo, Okarishimasu Anime da namorada de aluguel! 
 Esse anime ... ele ... vou lembrar dele muitooo, ele provavelmente vai ter uma segunda temporada. Esse anime é perfeito com um final surreal, lembre-se se for ver até final ... aprenda como cantar a opening. Ele faz o assunto sobre 1 protagonista totalmente inútil com garotas que você com certeza vai gostar de quase todas ... nem todas.
 Os personagens começam sua relação desdo zero, o encontro de todos é realmente incrível e não tem o que eu reclamar, eles são vivos e parecem pessoas do mundo real com sentimentos, eu não mudaria nenhum personagem e nem mesmo o protagonista pois foi por causa dele que o anime é o que se tornou.

 O protagonista é inútil e totalmente sem coragem mas ainda assim você ainda pode gostar dele, ele se desenvolve de pouco em pouco mas tenho certeza que na segunda temporada, ele será alguém além do esperado.

  A história não tem futuros e é sempre foda, ela sempre surpreende você até o final do anime. A história abrange como vai ser o relacionamento dos personagens mas a cada episódio é um momento mais marcante que o outro. 
Nota 10! Sinceramente, eu to emocionado, eu com ctz irei ver esse anime de novo com alguém. 2020 era um ano ruim mas ver esse anime conseguiu me deixar animado pra segunda temporada que talvez seja daqui 1 ano... Espero que o anime prossiga de um jeito bastante surreal como foi nessa temporada.

 A opening é uma opening de deixar você a mil, a pessoa que fez essa sincronização de opening merece meu parabéns pois ela é marcante e ficará no meu coração, espero que a próxima opening seja melhor que essa... Esse anime vai entrar na lista dos melhores não irônico! Foi realmente uma experiência boa e eu recomendaria sim para algum amigo, não tenho nada a criticar pois parece que o anime foi realmente bem planejado e espero que a temporada 2 seja nessa pegada onde o protagonista resolva os conflitos e solucione da melhor forma até por que digamos que ... ele não arrumou a situação mas acho que o autor deixou assim para na segunda temporada conter ep que com certeza farão ele ter uma decisão final. Ele realmente chegou bem perto dessa vez mas ele acabou desviando com uma mentirinha. Se tem uma coisa que eu posso dizer que me deixou com a vontade de ver esse anime até agora foi por causa do assunto de se apaixonar por uma namorada de aluguel, bem se você quer saber olhe e descubra, foi realmente um anime original e que tenho um certo amor por ele.

Kanojo, Okarishmasu centers around Kazuya. He gets dumped a month or less into his relationship. To drown his sorrows away, he goes back to his room and cries his eyes out. Then in the process, he gets so damn horny that he goes about masturbating as he envisions his short-term girlfriend, Mami. Yeah, that actually happened and more than once did we have a montage about it in a bit richer details. Upon an accident, he finds out about a service to rent a girlfriend, which he decides to give it a try. Not even seconds into the date when he meets the girl. Kazuya starts without holding back, hopelessly simping her nice looks, delicate legs, and the cute style she going on in his head. Upon a ridiculous misunderstanding, he brought it upon himself, and possibly intentionally, Chizuru is forced to act like Kazuya's girlfriend. This is to ease the nerves of Kazuya's awesome grandma and to show he won't die all lonely and miserable. It's something that can easily be resolved by a conversation. Still, it's the core part that keeps this show running. Of course, as that's the case, we will live through all kinds of delusions until we eventually reach the end.

Not in my wildest dream did I expect to be writing a review for Kanokari. This is so damn last minute. But I wanted to share my true feelings, and I felt like this could be an interesting write-up. Let's be honest; it's nothing groundbreaking. There are countless other stories of the same nature out there. It wouldn't be weird to label it as waste since the story really does not go anywhere. More accurately, Kazuya always stays the same place, never growing, learning, adapting. Otherwise, it's really not that bad. I have seen far worse and Kanokari ain't one of them. It's also a bit unique since instead of taking place in the traditional high school or middle school, it's actually a university this time around. But the biggest reason most of us where watching Kanokari was cause the waifu's are so quirky-dorky and lovable. Excluding Mami, she a total thot belongs on the street even if she is hot. Not gonna lie tho. She is nice as a villain that is more than doing the job she is meant to do. I ironically enjoy Kanokari more when she is on screen.

Regardless all of the females are real eye-candy on top of being unique. I remember those days in the past. I literally watched anything that had a cute girl plastered on it. Even if the anime was awful and a total waste of time. I somehow was able to get through it and get a ton of enjoyment value. Kanokari, while being similar to many of them, is not quite like it and could be valuable depending on how you decide to go into it. For one, Kazuya acts very realistic, says whatever on his mind like a doofus, or is egoistic and lacks an ounce of moral fibre to do the right things. Don't lie, many of us have been there. It doesn't have to be ultimately the same, but parts of his behavior to personality could be oddly distinguishable. I think that might one of the biggest reasons we audience just never seem to give Kazuya a damn break and is always throwing a roast here and there. Not like he is doing anything to avoid it either, it's all his fault we are forced to facepalm several times over into a brick wall. 

Kazuya, as a character, shows us humans are very fragile and delicate. We hurt others without meaning to. We are selfish and want everything to go our way. Our personality can change at the drop of a hat. But that's where Kazuya stops being realistic. Instead of growing and learning from his past actions and it's consequences. He keeps on making the same awful decisions without thinking twice. Not only does he stalk Chizuru for an entire day and blows his fantasy out of proportion. He gets caught red-handed and spills the beans making a total fool of himself publicly. The worst thing is he acts like he is the right place, not even remotely being embarrassed goes on about spilling his excessive pent-up feelings. Kazuya has many so-called "bruh" moments that make you cringe the life outta you. Kazuya is so damn egoistic and self-centered and wants the whole world to be revolved around him. He still bears feeling for the thot Mami who roasted him into oblivion, while at the same time nurturing a love for another, Chizuru. Then at some point when Ruka confesses to him, he actually tries to use it as a convenience tool to not bother or think about Chizuru anymore. But what about poor Ruka's feeling? Does she not matter? 

After we do something terrible in the real world, we tend to reflect on it, we cry if it's that bad. But above all, we learn and move forward even if we never grow to be perfect. But that's the thing about humans; flaws are a strong identifier for who we are and are a core part of us that keeps us growing over repeating the same shit like a certain someone. Kazuya would be a good protagonist if he actually grew and not repeated the same mistakes. But since that's not the case, he is just so damn infuriating and very offensive. He lacks will, is afraid to take chances, easily gets manipulated, and lets others. Such as Mami walk all over him without talking back—the total opposite of Chizuru. She is so understanding-caring, brimming with confidence, and is very easy on the eyes. It's been shown that despite Mami being Kazuya's first girlfriend, he doesn't act like himself and is a total mess around her. That's not the case for Chizuru. Kazuya is shown to act a bit calmer, albeit having restrictions on place. He does not seem to get suffocated with Chizuru or even flustered easily.

For that reason, I believe the creator, Reiji Miyajima, was trying to write Kazuya to grow through being with Chizuru. Even if that point does not hit the nail on the coffin, it's commendable he tried, and I won't fault him for that. Hey, who knows? The manga might be actually making progress on Kazuya pea-sized brain. But this what I have seen from the anime so far, and it's nada from our main idiot of a protagonist. All things considered, I'd be a liar if I said I don't find Kanokari fun regardless. Plus, Chizuru, Ruka, Sumi, yes, even Mami is fun got some interesting personalities that spices the show up. They don't bore you easily, either. Plus, most of the female has shown to reflect and grow in subtle manners. If only Kazuya did the same. Kazuya has a lot to learn, which he can get from the girls who make him just take everything they throw at him for granted. Sumi could teach him indirectly to make sure he never give up. She could be a sort of motivational booster as she has a problem with being around people, feeling insecure, and shy but is trying her hardest to take on step into the future. By looking at her example, Kazuya could be motivated to try harder. To actually grow into a person that deserves one of these girls. Mami can just throw all and every kind of shit at Kazuya without him biting back. Plus, he is indirectly getting manipulated by her, his dense beyond belief to see that.

Once he confessed to Mami, she neglected him, not paying any mind to his words or feelings. It's time to get over that thot already and look at the person that's making you consider trying to change. Chizuru is that person for him. Ruka is a hard case, but she is a clingy person who drags Kazuya wherever he wants. It causes drama when there is a better approach. Even so, Ruka has become better over the past of the show. Now that I think about it. Through Ruka, he should learn self-control. Not jump at any chances when he already has deep romantic feelings for Chizuru. Not being delicate can hurt Ruka. That could be the thing he has to overcome. To summarize, Chizuru's role in nurturing his heart and will. Sumi to never gives up, Mami, to learn to defend yourself in time of need, of course, only if Kazuya takes action. Then there is Ruka, where he has to learn to control his intimate frustrations. He can mature through each of them, but sadly, none of that happened in the first season. Kazuya is still a dumpster fire, which not even a trash bucket can hold onto his stupidity. It just spits it all out cause his stupidity is overwhelming and that bad. He's still madly obsessed with Mami and contemplating going out with Ruka for the wrong and infuriating reasons.

Then there's Chizuru. She's actually the better written character so far looking at the first season. She is a grounded  that feels a bit realistic in how she is portrayed. She can easily change into a tsundere at the drop of a dime, someone you can count on in your most demanding time when you need a friend or a savage that roasts you if you deserve it. Chizuru exhibits many traits over just repeating the same overused cliche. But In some ways, she is unrealistic, like not being bothered of getting stalked by one douchebag Kazuya and even growing feels for him. How? In a real way scenario, our useless main would be on his way to jail for a long time. But otherwise, she's good, even a bit complex, got her dreams and hopes, a future she got her eyes set on, worries she has to overcome, doubts for not reaching her goal, etc. Then she is drop-dead gorgeous on top of that. Why does she exist in a show where scum like Kazuya lives is beyond me. Not to mention, she is my best girl of Kanokari no question.

If there is an absolute saving grace about Kanokari, it has to be that unbelievably catchy and addicting opening song. I gotta say that "The Peggies" outdone themselves again. I simply can't stop blasting it on high volume and bop my head to the catchy tunes. Visual-wise, it's simply adorable. I love that moment when the girls are dancing together in a Tik-Tok manner. While those vivid and energetic colors just add to the charm for me. We even got a Ruka-centric ending song. I really enjoyed it. I find it interesting and unique how they told her backstory through it. It's a technique I have not seen before. Even the voice actress is top-notch and soothing for the ears. Mami especially got such a distinct and creepy tone to her voice that complements her whole character. It's a voice that reflects her personality so clearly. It's scary, really. While the others are all soothing and a sure blessing to my ears. Kanokari went all out when it came to getting quality voice actress. The animation is good for a RomCom, and the art is cute. It's so vibrant and oozes of energy. I quite adore it. But only if the characters didn't act for the sake of cheap drama. This could be som much more than just entertaining. As it stands now Kanokari is executing the concepts of cliche, generic and overly cringe so damn well. But there is room for an actual worthwhile and good story direction here.

I wanna confess this is the first time I don't want the main protag to end up with anyone. Unless Kazuya actually gets himself together. All of the girls, including Chizuru, is wasted on him. Kazuya needs to grow some moral fiber, then brain-cells, actually grow as a person to me being a-okay with him getting together with one. Kanokari is by not a must-watch, not even close. But if you feel like killing some brain cells for some reason or want fun for a few hours. Then this is one of the shows you can't go wrong with. It's a guilty pleasure of mine if I am to be completely frank. It baffles me I am even doing this review, but hey. I am not afraid to say I did have a blast even if Kazuya made me jump off a skyscraper countless times. Kanokari, despite its issues, got a charming cast of waifu with flavors and spice, a total banger from the Peggies, and is unusually addictive with a cute and flavory art-style. Truth be told, I will watch that Kanokari sequel and eat the shit like it's cake. Overall, If you're like me who can enjoy your silliness from time to time, give Kanokari a shot. It will more than likely entertain you if you go in with your brain turned off and or by having the right mindset.

Lively RomCom with a Mad Simping MC Loves Monologing a Girl's Features and is Shameless and Useless in Every Other Way

I think Rent-a-Girlfriend does three things well. It has a nice presentation, it looks good, and it has the honor of having The Peggies do its OP. I'll get to the other parts it does well later. I'm going to refer to Rent-a-Girlfriend as Rag for now on because it's easier and seems like an appropriate nickname for it.

A quick plot summary with a few gripes along the way, Rag starts with our MC Kazuya recently getting dumped by his girlfriend of one month, Mami, the seemingly conniving and manipulative type. To get over this, Kazuya masturbates, a lot. Like too much. My god who thought having inner monologues over a dude fapping would be a good idea. The soft colored presentation of the anime really is betrayed by Rag's tendency to implied jerking off scenes and the weakest attempts at ecchi. Then, Kazuya discovers an app that's the Door Dash equivalent of getting an escort. Through this he meets the stunning and charming Chizuru, who through a series of the most nauseating and eye rolling inducing decisions made to hamstring some sort of conflict for the show is now stuck with Kazuya. They have to fake being a couple to their friends and Kazuya's grandma, who desperately wants her grandson to stop being such a loser and introduce the love of his life to her before she dies. In a crazy twist of fate, these two turnout to be neighbors.

As for the characters, the overlying problem with Rag is that no matter how good or best "waifu" material they may seem to you basement dwellers, they are all tied to Kazuya and having to like him because he is a harem MC. Chizuru switches between acting as the perfect girlfriend to an assertive, do anything to keep her job a secret type. Throughout the entire running of the show, Kazuya does nothing beneficial for Chizuru. He stalks her and begs for her to keep up this charade for him. There is no quality Kazuya possesses or action he does for it to be believable that Chizuru can hold any sense of feeling for him outside of pity. Just understand that this is a harem and the ladies need to flock around him because it's easier to do that than to write a competent romcom. 

We get introduced to Ruka later on, who is a rented girlfriend for his loser beaver-tooth looking friend. Her shtick is that she has a heart condition and goes on dates to find the one that can make her heartbeat properly or something along the lines of that. Turns out, that man is Kazuya. Yet again, he does nothing to win over the affection of the girl, he is simply given it as they start to date. Ruka's condition is only explained through the ED of her first episode appearance, and honestly I thought it was a nice way to present it, as this is still a secret from everyone else. Ruka's fault is that she is annoying, and she is a cuckold, as Kazuya refuses to stop renting Chizuru, now out of a genuine feeling of love for her. Which was realized during a masturbation sequence. Very cool. 

The character who caught my eye the most was Sumi, for having a really cute character design. She shows up at the second to last episode. You see more masturbation in Rag than you do Sumi. Her deal is that she is taking the job to become less shy and she looks up to Chizuru as a role model for the job. She gets set up on a rented date with Kazuya to practice. It's a simple, cute episode of them going on a date, albeit a bit boring. Everything goes well and you just know the seed of affection in the wide, vast fields of loving a harem MC is planted. These girls should have a higher standard. Nonetheless, Mami spots them during their date.

The best part of Rag is Mami. She is voice acted by Aoi Yuuki who does a phenomenal job. Mami is the main antagonizing force of Rag and really brings spicy conflict. She's still possessive over Kazuya for whatever reason. She plays dirty and is manipulative. It is genuinely entertaining to see the other characters wrapped around her finger like they’re her plaything. But, this loops back around to the big problem with Rag. All of these girls are tied to Kazuya.

Kazuya is the biggest loser. It’s okay to be a loser, and he’s not an incel, but he is extremely irredeemable. There is nothing he does that would entice any of these girls to like him. The last thing I think Rag does well is a very small detail. Him and Chizuru’s first date is at the aquarium. A small detail yet plays the only part in Kazuya’s positive character development. You go into his apartment and notice he has posters of fish and a good collection of aquatic creatures he takes care of. It was a nice detail to give Kazuya some dimension of personality of him having an interesting hobby and having it be a background detail. That is literally one of the only things Rag does well. That’s it. The harem fails as the object of everyone’s affection is this contemptable loser. Every plot point is so forced with conflict that could be resolved with just a single conversation. Rag cannot not have Kazuya on screen at all times, as he literally secretly listens into almost every conversation like some creep. Kazuya never improves, he never learns, and does nothing to win over any girl. He simply begs and pines for Chizuru’s affection and masturbates, treating his actual girlfriend like an unwanted side piece because he’s to much of a coward to confess his feelings.

Rag, as a harem romcom, has very little spice, very little humor, terrible romance, and half-assed ecchi. Just watch Nisekoi or Bokuben instead. At best it’s a bit spicy, at worst it’s incredibly boring.

Rent-a-Girlfriend is a harem where the MC makes it impossible to believe any girl would ever fall in love with him.

Something of a guilty pleasure, Rent-A-Girlfriend fills a certain niche despite its flaws.

__#EXTREMELY MINOR SPOILERS FOR EPISODES 11 AND 12 OF RENT-A-GIRLFRIEND__
Trash, but a very good kind of trash. Like how you get fast food and know that is probably slowing killing you, but for $5 that shit is pretty good. Not some master class in writing or plot but a very enjoyable experience that leaves you longing for more. It has pretty good characters despite there being a very much right and predictable answer for best girl in the character development department. One of the four main girls doesn't even appear until episode 11. She is only that episode and briefly appears in a scene acting as the season's ending for the last episode. One of the four main girls is also shown to be jealous, manipulative, scary, and a very bad fit for the main character. This only leaves you with two girls who have a chance to get with the main character and it is very apparent which character the show favors. The main love interest is written very well and never seems like she is acting some way only for the plot to progress. The protagonist however, is a very wishy-washy sort of guy who is indecisive and makes quite a few stupid decisions. When watching this show you should expect feeling second-hand embarrassment because of the protagonist. This is a good, short, and very popular anime pick right now that you can knock out in a day if you have the time, but also can be enjoyed on more spread out schedule due to its good use of cliffhangers to keep your attention. Some of the episode previews at the end of the episodes have some unique and funny character dialogue that really helps deepen the characters' development. The OP is really great with its visuals and memorable parts like the girls making the finger motions. It also has the amazing song Centimeter by The Peggies making it a must-watch OP every for every episode you watch. The ED is pretty funny as well, but is mostly a bit of fan service that is fun to watch a few times, but not as necessary as the OP. The Rom-com aspects with the will they, won't they sway with the feelings is very reminiscent of Western Rom-coms like Friends. It has provided a needed good bit of levity for the year and the recent announcement of season 2 came at a good time for fans who are excited for more. Hopefully the characters receive more development, more screen time, and help provide more and more people with a good bit of enjoyment. I cannot for season 2 to make a splash and hope it can improve on the first season's mistakes to make an already decently strong show even better than it already is. __To conclude this review I would like to say if you like Rom-coms, watch this. If you like waifus, watch this. If you like a good art style, watch this. If you like suspense, watch this. If you tick all these boxes, well this is the show for you.__

I feel like people who are new to anime or people who don't really "read" or try to understand the plot or the characters would like a rom-com like this, but to those who have watched a lot of anime.. mixed feelings I guess. This anime can be funny at times where Kazuya (MC) screw things up or just simply him being pathetic. 

Personally, the first half of this season wasn't really interesting, it only got interesting when new characters were introduced and spiced things up.

A really fun watch if you don't read too much into it. (I definitely tried hard to understand this anime lols)

I wouldn't mind Kazuya and her being together but, Kazuya has to change. Such cute voice and I like how she was clinging onto Kazuya's arm on one episode. Overall, really really cute girl with a cute voice. I really want to see more of her being shy in the next season because...idk she's just cute !~ ~~~

Primeiro rewiew que escrevo nesse site, vamos lá:

É um anime de comédia romântica genérico-não tão genérico porque a premissa até que é bem legal, a animação é bem bonitinha, mas não funciona pra mim, talvez porque eu não seja o público alvo ou porque eu odeie adultos que agem como crianças, porque é isso que acontece o anime todo nessa primeira temporada. Com 20 anos e na faculdade as pessoas não tem uma mentalidade tão infantil quanto a maioria dos personagens (se eles tivessem uns 15-16 anos eu aceitaria). Então vou resumir:

- O protagonista é um bosta que sabe que tá fazendo coisa errada e continua fazendo.
- A namorada de aluguel talvez seja a personagem mais sensata porque pelo menos ela tá ganhando dinheiro, mas como ela acaba gostando do protagonista que é um bosta, e sabendo que ele é um bosta, então ela me decepciona. (eu manteria a amizade com a vó porque ela é fofa e mandaria ele pastar)
- A ex namorada é uma vagabunda que não aceita a ideia de "perder" pra outra pessoa, mas é uma boa vilã pra história.
- Todos os amigos são um bando de talaricos. Tem um lá que até tenta ajudar a situação mas se a menina desse confiança pra ele, ele com certeza furava o olho do protagonista.
- A outra namoradinha que aparece também é retardada e só serve pra fazer piada ecchi.
- A menina que não fala dorme de sutiã então é retardada também, porque nenhuma mulher normal faz isso.

Mas o pior pra mim é que o protagonista trata namoro como a única coisa que importa na vida dele, e que a vida dele é uma merda sem isso... O cara tem uma familia legal, uma avó legal, tá na faculdade, tem uma quantidade razoável de dinheiro porque ele pode gastar com namorada, tem um aquário da hora com um bichinho fofo e acha a vida dele uma merda porque ele não tem muié? Vai tomar no c*. Sem ele tivesse 15 anos eu aceitava essa mentalidade, mas um cara de 20 fucking anos precisa de uns tapas na cara pra parar com essa palhaçada. No final das contas na vida adulta ninguém liga se você tem namorada ou não, o que importa é se você tem dinheiro, o resto é consequência.

Bom, talvez eu tenha uma visão de mundo diferente do publico a que este anime é destinado, mas para as pessoas que gostam desse gênero acho que com certeza irão curtir, pois no que ele se propõe dentro do tema ele entrega o resultado. Espero que não seja mais um anime onde o romance não se desenvolve nunca e que o protagonista não seja essa pessoa pra sempre (até porque já tá na hora de crescer né meu filho). 

A única coisa que eu gostei bastante são a opening e a ending, as músicas são ótimas e a animação é bem bonitinha.

É isso, eu pareço uma velha reclamando (e sou mesmo), mas não consigo conceber a ideia de um adulto com essa mentalidade.(e não me venham com essa de que 20 anos ainda é adolescente porque não é porra nenhuma) Não vou ver a segunda temporada pq já passei raiva suficiente com essa, bjs, não me odeiem é só minha opinião.

This is my opinion so please don't hate. Also there are spoilers in this so don't read this if you haven't watched the anime. I honestly tried my best to like this anime but, there were just too many things that I didn't like about it. At first, the concept of the anime is unique and intriguing but, when I actually started watching it there were too many things that bothered. First of all, things happen way too conveniently and make zero sense. For example, when Mizuhara and Kazuya just happen to go on trips to the same beach at the same time. Like what are the chances of something like this happening. It's not like there's only one beach that's open at one time. It's just way too convenient. Also in the last episode when Mami and Mizuhara just happen to go on a date to the same karaoke place that Kazuya works at. Also, it coincidentally happened at a time when he and Ruka were working. Another thing I don't like about this anime is the characters. First off, Kazuya became more likable towards the end of the season. Like at first he was literally just some random dude who liked every girl he saw but, after a while, he became a better person. But, that does not excuse the fact that I disliked 75% of the girls in this show. First, let's start with the obvious one: Mami. Mami is honestly a good character for the show because it presents an antagonist for the story which she actually does well because I really despise her. Then there's Ruka who I actually liked at first but, over time she started becoming the clingy girl that exists in every stereotypical harem. Then there's Mizuhara who I dislike almost as much as Mami. First of all, she's just the fakest person alive and when she's not acting fake, they turn her into the bad type of tsundere. Second, the whole plot surrounding her jut makes zero sense. They say that the only reason that they're pretending to stay together is for the sake of their grandmothers. But, honestly, if they were truly together and broke up wouldn't it be their grandmothers' job to respect their decision instead of pressure them into staying together. Then there's the one girl that I do somewhat like which is Sumi. However, they only included Sumi in one episode so it's hard to really use her as a saving grace for the entire show. However, what I will say about Rent A Girlfriend is that the manga adaptation is way more enjoyable in my opinion because most of the time it's easier to execute a good manga than a good anime. Overall, I think that season 2 for this anime has high potential since most of the main characters have been introduced and we can see them build their relationships more.

First getting into _Rent-A-Girlfriend_ from reading the manga, I was excited for this anime when I found out that it was being adapted. My anticipation for this anime in January when I finished binging the manga was off-the-charts, to say the least. Over time, as my opinion of the manga started to drop and the manga itself started to dawdle and show cracks, my eagerness for this anime to air sunk like a rock. Luckily, it was one of the anime that I watched from the Summer season that wasn’t delayed due to COVID, so I didn’t have to wait longer than usual to watch it. While my opinion of the manga has been free-falling for a few months now, this anime covers the part where I still thought it was good and wasn’t wasting my time chapter by chapter.

_Rent-A-Girlfriend_ is about Kazuya Kintoshita, a twenty-year-old college student that makes the mistake of ‘renting a girlfriend’ in the heat of the moment while reminiscing about his ex-girlfriend who dumped and blocked him on all social media. To his surprise, his date with his rental girlfriend Chizuru Mizuhara goes exceptionally well. When he goes to leave his five-star review for her, he becomes infuriated instead when he reads positive reviews from lonely men like him that rented her, and gives her a one-star review instead out of spite and jealousy. On top of that, he decides to rent her again to give her a ‘piece of his mind’. After Kazuya gets a phone call telling him that his grandmother collapsed and is at the hospital, he abandons his ‘date’ with Chizuru and dashes to the hospital. Little does he know that Chizuru, obligated to stay with her date for the entire allotted time like a good rental girlfriend, tails him to the hospital, which unfortunately gets them into the situation of being thought of as actual boyfriend and girlfriend by Kazuya’s grandmother, which is conscious and mentally fine in her hospital room. To add on to that, Chizuru’s grandmother, who is also at the hospital, ends up also under the impression that they’re dating. Instead of Kazuya looking like Japan’s biggest loser and admitting to his grandmother that he ‘rented a girlfriend’ for the sole purpose of chastising her for doing her job, they decide to go along with the charade, at least for the time being.

As much as this series relies on the girls to generate interest in the series and establish a ‘waifu war’, much of the reason why _Rent-A-Girlfriend_ is interesting in the first place is because of Kazuya. He isn’t an alpha ladykiller or a self-insert MC--he is, in layman’s terms, a ‘simpleton’ often shortened to ‘simp’ by many on the world wide web. One has to be in a dire state of affairs emotionally to ‘rent a girlfriend’ in an attempt to get over your ex. There are many individual scenes I can point to show how much of a loser he is, the one that sticks out in my head is when Kazuya spends no less than two minutes in anime-time beating off to a picture of his ex in a swimsuit while also thinking about how selfless Chizuru has been, culminating in him realizing who he’s really in love with. Perhaps it’s unfair to call Kazuya a loser. He’s way more emotionally vulnerable than pretty much any other main character of an anime that I’ve watched. His paranoid thoughts and foolish behavior is honestly a better representation of the target audience that would watch this anime, rather than a personality-less yet somehow cool main character. All things aside, Kazuya ~is~ a simp, there’s no way of getting around it.

Now on to the girls, which is probably the main reason why you want to watch this anime. I’ve already mentioned Chizuru, who is a hard-working, meticulous, and sometimes ornery girl. The anime doesn’t wait to tell you that her (or most other girls in the show) are beautiful and are too good for Kazuya. The reason why she’s the ‘main girl’ is due to her commitment to the bit of being Kazuya’s girlfriend in front of their family and friends. Things like that play well to Kazuya and to most watching the show. The other girl I’ve mentioned so far, the ‘ex’, __DOES__ have a name. It’s Mami Nanami. She is easily the most controversial character on this show for reasons easy to see why. She dumps Kazuya for vapid reasons that are hard to understand and seems to only reappear to meddle with his life. Her reasons for acting this way aren’t clear to the viewer, or her for that matter, but it should be examined with more nuance rather than calling her a ‘bitch’ for acting weird. That would probably be asking too much though. Ruka Sarashina, the second most popular girl, is introduced halfway through the anime. She is introduced as another ‘rental girlfriend’, and becomes attached to Kazuya since he’s the only man that has made her heart beat over 90 beats per minute. While Ruka causes as much, if not more, trouble as Mami, viewers generally see her as less of a ‘bitch’ and more ‘childish’. She is of ambiguous age and seems to know where Kazuya is at most times. What she lacks in smarts she makes up in ambition. The final girl that is featured in this anime is Sumi Sakurasawa. It’s hilarious that they have her up in most promotional images with the other girls and in the OP and ED because she doesn’t appear until episode eleven. Let me remind you that _Rent-A-Girlfriend_ is a twelve-episode anime. I’m being a bit facetious here since there __IS__ going to be a second season, and Sumi being in only two episodes is due to the way the anime adapted the manga. Don’t worry Sumi stans, she will make more appearances in the second season. On to the character of Sumi herself; she is a friend of Chizuru and a fellow girlfriend-for-rent. Her main charm points are that she sucks at smiling and that she’s a mute. Not to be brief about her, but due to her only making a short appearance, I can’t make a serious assertation about her. If you want to know about her, go watch the anime.

On to the plot--I enjoy that the anime relishes in the fact that Kazuya is a moron at most times. Rather than having him be in the right at all times, _Rent-A-Girlfriend_ isn’t afraid to paint him as an unreasonable imbecile. At allows for the prospect of future character growth, which admittedly has not happened yet. Him being a foil to the driven and always-moving Chizuru is a huge slap in the face for him. There’s something about her that lights a fire in him and makes him not want to be a useless bozo. What gets in the way of me enjoying this anime more is the convoluted nature of it. Not that I hate it when shows are convoluted, but the way that _Rent-A-Girlfriend_ executes it is atrocious at times. The part that stands out, in particular, is when Kazuya and Chizuru have a chance meeting at the beach, when both of their friend groups plan out trips to the same location. Making an anime convoluted is a huge risk, with it being hamfisted severely dragging the entertainment value of it down. It’s one of those things that you’ll have to watch to understand what I’m talking about, since talking about it would spoil most of the story. The anime also doesn’t explore the concept of a ‘rental girlfriend’ so much from the girlfriend-for-rent’s point of view. While I can’t say that this would be necessary, since it is Kazuya’s story after all, but it would be nice to show what it’s truly like for someone like Chizuru to do a rental date. I can’t imagine that most people that would go on a rental date are stand-up people. Maybe that’s my bias. The anime does whitewash the rental girlfriend business though, which I found out __IS__ a real thing in Japan after a Japanese friend showed me websites for it (google ‘レンカノ’ to see for yourself). While being a rental girlfriend doesn’t seem to have the same dangers as being a sex worker, there is still potentially some major risk involved in being one. Again, this is Kazuya’s show, so this complaint might seem a little unnecessary. The point is that I can’t imagine being a rental girlfriend being a desirable job, and the presentation of it in _Rent-A-Girlfriend_ is naive at best.

Should you watch _Rent-A-Girlfriend_? It depends. My friend James had to drop the anime after a few episodes because Kazuya was too cringe-worthy for his liking. If you hate ‘cringe’ MCs, then do not for the sake of your sanity watch _Rent-A-Girlfriend_. If you’re looking for a semi-realistic story of a failson trying to not break his grandmother’s heart while also trying to enter the life of someone who’s seemingly out of reach, then this might be your show. If you want to brainlessly root for your favorite girl against the other girls, then this is a show for you, unfortunately. It's a fun show to watch, which is the most important thing at the end of the day. It’s depressing to say, but this show will only get worse (and less fun) from here on if it follows the trajectory of the manga. I’ll still review the damn thing though when it airs.

An emotionally honest yet sometimes clumsy pseudo-harem. Overall a fun watch.

Le principe est intriguant et fais sourire mais honnêtement il y a le syndrome dans l'anime qui s'appelle : comme de par hasard; c'est a dire que honnêtement la relation entre Kazuya et Chizuru auraient du s’arrêter très vite mais a chaque fois les circonstance on fais qu'il se voient se croisent doivent être ensemble genre rajouter le tag Fantastique hein ca va pas nous choquer. L'histoire avance quand même assez bien et surtout au moment ou il sort avec Ruka qui est vraiment un superbe personnage et le connard de Kazuya arrive même pas a voir ça sérieux.. Moi qui pensais que de voir un personnage de mon age seraient pas mal c affolant comment c surréaliste : Le groupe de pote souvent des amis d'enfance, puceau MAIS qui le précise dans chaque épisode.. Stop l'histoire avait une chance d’être correcte surtout que les personnages sont vraiment pas mal.. Surtout la fin de la saison 1 ou Kazuya avoue a Ishinose que ba il l'aime mais en changeant les mots et créant des quiproquo stop sérieux c relou et sa énerve tout le monde. Kazuya sais que deux solution est possible : reconnaitre le coté l’éphémère de sa relation avec Mizuhara  et de aller avec Ruka ou bien de lui avouer car oui c dur mais il y a trop de signe qui fait que potentiellement on peut avoir un bon compte rendu !

Bon, Un bon point qui ma pas mal plus mais quand Kazuya est la je suis obligé de baissé : ___Kazuya___ est assez naïf bête immature mais il reste très drôle je trouve entre comment il est bête et c phrase de macho c’était drôle et il peut être moins bête. 
___Chizuru___ est un bon personnage car elle est rationnel du début a la fin et très gentil elle porte le show sur son dos très facilement déjà car c une grosse waifu puis la manière dont elle agis est vraiment cool ! 
___Ruka___ aka le personnage détruit  par le studio : Un personnage qui semble vide car elle veut sortir avec Kazuya sans raison apparente, on apprends son histoire ou ? Dans l'ending de son épisode alors que même si passez les ending c complétement bête surtout si on voit qu'il change sa reste merdique : On apprends dans l'ending quelle ne ressent rien; son cœur ne bats pas envers les personnes quelle aimes, que même pendant la location c la même chose jusque la rencontre de kazuya ! Et ba c’est un bon devellopement de personnage ba non rien nada on ne le montre pas ça va toucher plus l'histoire ici et non le reste mais bon elle est incroyablement aimante;gentil et incroyablement douce kazuya ne la choisis pas je peux comprends car il allais le faire sauf que la fin avec Mami et Chizuru je comprends..
___Mami___ est un super personnage qui cache encore beaucoup de chose mais reste cool : On apprends quelle aime encore Kazuya mais pourquoi ? Surtout qu'on la voit très toxique par rapport a ça, mais dans la logique elle reste un personnage réfléchis : quand elle confronte Ichinose elle a raison sur toute la ligne, elle fais que engraisser un mensonge tout en blessant potentiellement sont conjoint a quoi bon aller aussi loin on clarifie tout et voila.
___Sumi___ a pas sa place dans la saison car si c pour la mettre que dans 1 épisode alors quelle figure comme mains support ça décevant.. Elle semble intéressante et chou mais je peux rien dire on la voix que 15 minutes
Sa reste tout pour l'ensemble des personnages les autres ont pas vraiment leur place ici.

3 3 7.- Pitié stop le MC qui gâche le show

If Uzaki-Chan was this past season’s big romantic comedy anime, Rent-A-Girlfriend would be the big romantic drama or dramady anime. It’s generally an okay show, though I could see it being a real problem in subsequent seasons, depending on how it goes on. It’s part of a nice trend of anime series based around colleges instead of being around high schoolers.

Rent-A-Girlfriend follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a college student whose first girlfriend, Mami Nanami, has just broken up with him after dating him for only a month or so. He’s now in a bad head space, so he goes to a rental girlfriend service to, basically, pay to have someone go on a date with him, to try to help him restore his confidence.


 
The first “date”, with a girl named Chizuru Ichinose, goes well, though he bumps into his friends from college who think that she’s his actual girlfriend (and he doesn’t do anything to dissuade him from this), but the second one goes badly. First off his spectacular lack of self-confidence causes himself to beat himself up in public in a way that makes her look bad too. Second, after this date was interrupted by this (and then Chizuru taking him aside to chew him out for being an ass), they end up being called away to the hospital, where Kazuya’s grandmother, Nagomi, has just been hospitalized.

Nagomi thinks that Chizuru is Kazuya’s actual girlfriend, and she’s thrilled to see that he’s dating such a nice girl. So thrilled that she calls in her new friend – Sayuri. Saiyuri Ichinose. Who is Chizuru’s grandmother. Chizuru’s grandmother who doesn’t know about her part time job as a Rental Girlfriend.

Yeah.

So, now, for the sake of their grandparents, they have to pretend to be actually dating, until they can find a time to diplomatically “break up” in a way that doesn’t upset their grandparents. And there’s a very real possibility that the two are actually falling for each other.

On top of all of this is Mami. Mami is… not a nice person. She is not happy that Kazuya has seemingly bounced back so quickly after she broke up with him, and starts actively working to break Kazuya and Chizuru up. She also comes to represent some of the problems with the show – specifically how the narrative of the series handles Kazuya.


 
Kazuya himself is generally an okay guy. He’s not perfect – his biggest flaw is his utter lack of self-confidence, and how that leads to him undermining his relationships either by giving him impostor syndrome, or pushing people away because he feels, in brief, that if he can’t like himself no-one else can like him either, so they must be faking.

The problem from this comes from the fact that, over the course of the first season of Rent-A-Girlfriend, Kazuya basically gets a harem. He starts with Chizuru and Mami, with then two of Chizuru’s co-workers from the same agency basically then inserting themselves into the story. Of the women in the story – only Chizuru has a character arc that isn’t related to Kazuya in some manner, at least this season. Mami has no reason for trying to interject herself into this relationship, outside of pure spite (which isn’t something I’m saying never happens, but it’s somewhat lazy writing here). Another character, Ruka, ends up pursuing Kazuya because she’s basically declared herself Chizuru’s rival, and a fourth, Sumi, enters the equation when Chizuru sets Kazuya up with one of her co-workers on a practice date due to the fourth girl’s inexperience, and he’s nice to her.
 
The problem is that only Chizuru and Kazuya have any sort of lives outside of each other. Chizuru is an aspiring actress, and Kazuya keeps fish – and takes a part time job at a karaoke parlor to help pay for his hobby. And that’s it. We’ve got nothing for Kazuya’s friends (not even what their majors are). We have nothing for Mami and what she does outside of sabotaging Kazuya’s relationships. We have nothing for Sumi or Ruka. That’s not great.

I mean, I enjoyed Rent-A-Girlfriend, and I’ll watch the second season, but this definitely a situation where the story, if the source material is not careful, could walk right into a field of rakes.

A solid season, with some potential for problems depending on the next season.

Kazuya doesn't need a girlfriend, he needs a therapist.

The final was one of the worst ones I've ever seen, sorry. Maybe it was just me but this was not what I expect while watching this anime. After I reach the third (maybe fourth) episode, I thougth Kazuya will ask Chizuru to be his girl friend and the story will so go on. Instead a whole new character(Ruka) has been introtuced later in the serie. I will be honest, I did not read the manga therefore I don't know how the story goes over there but the way Ruka has been involved was badly planned. It was like she fell out from sky with out any reason. She suddenly claimed she loves Kazuya. I was expecting a better reason for her to love Kazuya, maybe there could be a better dialogue between them or could be some history between them.. Anyway after the Ruka disaster I thougth she will be settled and get involved better with the flow but instead it was like she has been all forgotten in some of the important parts. Yes I know she met Kazuya's family but the way she gave up after listening to grandma was not acceptable for her character. She was so stubborn about Kazuya at the beginning. Then she just gave up, because grandma asked some ordinary questions about Chizuru. She should have been more insist about Kazuya and his family. After these parts I realized the story was going worst and worst in every episode.. When I reach the last 2-3 episode I still had some hope about Kazuya x Chizuru but then again a whole new character(Sumi) was introtuced. Now, don't get me wrong here Sumi was a good idea for Mami part. The way Mami learns about rental girlfriends was good. But as I said it was last 2-3 episode.. The "Sumi part" and "Mami learns about rental girlfriend" part could have been a whole different season for this serie. I kept watching to see how the final episode and final moments will be but till the last 2-3 minutes there was still no confession. Yes Kazuya said something like "Only you, only you're enough"(Sorry I did not watch the anime as english subbed so I tried to translate it but the words might be wrong here) but then the serie gone the "comedy" genre again and Kazuya said some stupid words. I had a hope even at the last second that maybe Chizuru will knock Kazuya's door or maybe Kazuyu will do the same thing but unfortunately it did not happen. In last seconds they showed up Chizuru with a big smile on her face(which was really cute) but she did not say anything at all. She might have smiled about many things. Maybe Kazuya finally asked her and thats why she was smiling or maybe the actress job she wanted finally happen, we don't know. I wish there was less uncertainty in the end. I wanted to see Kazuya and Chizuru, together, fighting against Mami's evil plans.

The drawings was amazing. I really loved the way of emotional expression drawings. Especially the scene which Kazuya saves Chizuru from drowning, mostly the part after before coast guards find them. That was the best part. In some scenes the characters were drawn as chibi. These parts was very, very good!

Voiceover was also good there was no part which I can say was bad. Maybe the part where Kazuya was expressing his feelings might have been more strong tough. He made us  felt like Sumi's voice in these parts. I mean he was a bit quiet.

Overall the serie was good, you will most probably enjoy it. I would definitely recommend it but just don't expect too much when it comes to story progress and character depth.

I do not think it would be a stretch to say that Rent-a-Girlfriend is this year’s premiere rom-com behind Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2. Heck, maybe it has garnered more attention than Kaguya-sama. Regardless of your opinion on the show, none would deny that it is the farthest thing from a standard rom-com. It would also not be a stretch to say that it has become a laughingstock of the anime community for a few reasons. But enough of the exposition. I am here to present my case as to why Rent-a-Girlfriend, against popular belief, is a pretty great show.

# __Story: 7.5/10__
There is no need for a synopsis of this series. If you haven’t seen it, the title explains all you need to know. On paper, the concept of renting a girlfriend is a convenient veil for many of the expected tropes to hide behind. However, for lack of a better term, it’s smart. Rental services such as these do exist in the real word. As such, there are many aspects of it that this show can incorporate into its plot. I’m not going to say Rent-a-Girlfriend exposes the industry secrets of the rental industry (because it doesn’t), but it presents many questions and conflicts, which are realistic given the circumstances, that would not arise in a standard romcom. Heck, the first few minutes of the first episode present to us a cringeworthy and ugly, yet all too realistic portrayal of coping with a rejection. While this specific scenario is not exclusive to Rent-a-Girlfriend, the premise the show creates makes it all the more engaging.
Everything I have stated only covers the premise of the show and the ideas it entertains. The actual storyline and how it is both paced and executed is another matter. The first episode wastes no time establishing the characters and conflict. Furthermore, it establishes a short-term goal, being Kazuya rekindling his relationship with Mami, which eventually evolves into a broader, long-term goal. That long-term goal would be Kazuya improving himself as a person and acquiring a girlfriend, only with Chizuru instead. I’ll cut to the chase and say that this goal is not achieved by the season’s end – well, not completely anyway. By the final episode, Kazuya largely exhibits many of the same behaviors he showcased earlier in the show. Nevertheless, we do see throughout the course of the show that he is not an ill-meaning person. Far from it in fact. This is knowledge that we acquire throughout the series instead of being made immediately aware at the beginning. If the show portrayed Kazuya as a selfless and upstanding person in the first episode, we would not feel that anything has changed by the show’s end. In other words, the show aims to make you dislike, if not completely hate Kazuya from the onset. Instead of concerning itself with the latter half of the previously mentioned long-term goal (acquiring a relationship with Chizuru), it dedicates the majority of the show to Kazuya both improving, and proving himself to not only his romantic interest, but the viewer. Don’t get me wrong, very few will walk away from the final episode thinking that Kazuya is a great person. But hopefully most will recognize that he isn’t a bad one. I argue that Rent-a-Girlfriend does not see itself as a series that primarily concerns itself with having its male protagonist work towards a romantic relationship. That takes a backseat to the main protagonist going on a journey of personal growth. I believe that is both the main intention, and main appeal of Rent-a-Girlfriend, at least in regard to this season.
That said, there’s a reason this aspect of the show did not receive a 10/10. Despite Kazuya moving forward in his journey, he does so as if he is tripping himself whilst climbing a flight of stairs. And while some aspects of that definitely make the journey worth watching, some… Aren’t. A prime example? Kazuya stalking Chizuru while she is on a “date” with a mysterious individual. What makes it worse is that he receives little to no consequences for such a thing. As much as that episode is entertaining, it’s hard to argue that it fits in with the rest of the show. Luckily, that is the most severe example of the show disrupting its own momentum. I suppose another, albeit far less consequential example of odd pacing is the inclusion of episode eleven. The episode in question focuses largely on Sumi, a character who has no impact on the events we see in this season. On the other hand, the show at least takes the time to ensure that it sets up the conflict for the final episode. But again, like it does with the other flaws this show contains, Rent-a-Girlfriend is able to put band-aids over the wounds in the form of remaining consistently humorous. While not all of the humor is particularly creative or unique, the show doubles down on the vast majority of it resulting in memorable and enjoyable moments.

#__Characters – 8/10__
As mentioned above, Kazuya serves as a strong protagonist. The show’s willingness to portray him as someone who makes plenty of poor choices, as well as someone who wants to be seen as someone who’s greater than he currently is makes him a central driving force for much of the events that take place in this show. There’s a reason why people, who despite disliking Kazuya’s character, continued watching Rent-a-Girlfriend. He is quite simply, a captivating protagonist, just not in the conventional sense. Furthermore, Kazuya’s character is almost scarily similar to those of real people that might be around his age and have a similar outlook on their (lack of) relationships. While I’m not claiming that all young males who are desperate for companionship after a breakup will go out and rent a girlfriend or stalk a girl, but it’s hard deny that Kazuya’s character doesn’t show some parallels to someone you might see in the real world. None of this inherently makes his character better, but it certainly works to make both Kazuya and the show as a whole more engrossing. A great character doesn’t need to be a great person. In fact, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Kazuya also serves as the primary antagonist of the show.
I have yet to mention Chizuru prominently in this review. While I do not believe she is as well-written of a character as Kazuya is, she nonetheless fulfills her role well. Her brazen attitude toward Kazuya (while not acting as his girlfriend that is) serves as a good foil that ensures Kazuya is made aware of the errors of his ways (even if it does not always result in concrete consequences). That said, her unwillingness to completely commit to cutting ties with Kazuya, despite her constant disdain with early in the series, is rather frustrating to watch at times. Much of the conflict could be resolved in Chizuru remained firm on her beliefs, but the show insists that she wavers instead. This would be acceptable if the show itself was aware of her somewhat inconsistent tolerance of Kazuya. Luckily, this becomes less of a problem as the show continues as she, for better or worse, accepts that her “relationship” with Kazuya is here to say. Nevertheless, her actions in the final episode serve both her and Kazuya’s character well. It works as a payoff for Kazuya’s journey up until this point, and thoroughly convinces the viewer that her perception of him has changed. 
Mami is a character I continue to find very fascinating. Much of her motives are left a mystery, yet like Kazuya, her character is unendingly convincing. She is mostly present in the first third of the show and kickstarts the rest of Kazuya’s journey for personal growth, even if she herself is no longer the destination. Furthermore, she is a parallel to Chizuru. They are each upfront regarding some subjects but remain silent for others. For the most part, Mami is indeed a plot device. But I do not believe that to be a bad thing. Mami is able to seamlessly pop in and out of the story while continuing to be a natural inclusion. While my opinion of this show is not judged by the potential it has going forward, Mami definitely opens a door of possibilities for future installments of Rent-a-Girlfriend.
The show features a few more characters that while not as prominent as our protagonists and Mami (who though not always present, is a looming figure in the story), bolster the cast. Ruka, who unlike Kazuya and Chizuru, is completely aware of what she wants and how she will achieve it. While not necessarily an antagonist, she is undeniably a roadblock for Kazuya. She receives a backstory that is just deep enough to make the viewer appreciate her inclusion. Ultimately, she serves as a character that pushes Kazuya to take action even when he does not wish to. As mentioned earlier, Sumi is featured in episode eleven and is mostly inconsequential to the story at large. There isn’t much to say here, but perhaps it is best she was delegated to one episode as her gimmick would likely lose its endearing charm if it were utilized anymore. The final character worth mentioning is Kibe, Kazuya’s close friend. He is hardly a character that is expanded upon much, but his character contrasts so much with the rest of the cast that he doesn’t need it. Regardless, he makes a convincing case for why someone would want to be friends with Kazuya to begin with.
All in all, the cast of Rent-a-Girlfriend is an enjoyable one. The characters bounce off each other well, are entertaining, and contribute to the bigger picture of the series.

#__Art – 8/10__
Finally, the in-depth parts of this review are over. The rest should be smooth sailing from here. The art and animation in Rent-a-Girlfriend is relatively simple, but very polished and pleasant to the eye. The show utilizes a very pastel-like color scheme and the backgrounds have a sketch-like feel to them. The round and soft character designs mesh well with it and proves to be very cohesive. If I have any complaints regarding this aspect of the show, it would be that the animation is sometimes too defined when compared to the background. Despite both parts being very polished, I feel the show sometimes drew out a scene for too long, resulting in me becoming distracted by the static background in contrast to the animated characters. 
This is a minor thing, but I'd like to give props to the original author. The outfits he designed for the characters are really great and nice to look at. In an anime format, it keeps things interesting to look at.

#__Sound – 7.5/10__
I’ll take a moment to comment on the opening and ending credits respectively. While they do play a part in my opinion of the show overall, they do not factor into my score for this category.
“Centimeter” by the peggies is an insanely catchy song paired with a great opening sequence. The opening credits showcases some animation that remarkably fluid and ask that you re-watch it several times. “Kokuhaku Bungee Jump”, while maybe not as memorable as it’s opening counterpart, is enjoyable all the same. Furthermore, the ending sequence it is paired with is hardly impressive on a technical level, but satisfactory by directional standards. At the very least, the final shot of the ending sequence is enough to make you internally chuckle at its unapologetic crudeness. 
That aside, the soundtrack that plays throughout the course of the series is very distinct. It definitely draws inspiration from soundtracks of 80’s-90’s video games. While I wouldn’t go back to listen to it on my own time, you’ll definitely take note of it and most likely appreciate it. Though there are a few instances in the show where I find it to be somewhat out of place for the scenes it accompanies.

#__Enjoyment – 8.5/10__
It takes a lot for a show that is able to make viewers that are generally displeased with it to return for the next episode.  Rent-a-Girlfriend finds itself with an immense amount of charm that is simply too difficult to pass up. Whether the show is metaphorically dunking on Kazuya’s life or creating conflicts on par with dumpster fires you can’t help but look at, the show is endearing with charisma alone. On top of that, the characters are mostly well-written, and the series provides an interesting storyline that you can’t necessarily predict.
When it’s all said and done, Rent-a-Girlfriend does more things right than most people would like to give it credit for. Heck, I was never anticipating this show to portray a character who is simultaneously a loser, but also a sympathetic young adult who is misguided by his own woe. The show does take a couple of hard falls, but it continues to climb up the metaphorical staircase with relative grace regardless.

Rent-a-Girlfriend is the little dumpster fire that could.

__Introduction:__
Have you ever thought about how it would be, being able to rent a temporary girlfriend? For example, that one you can take to a family gathering, so this one aunt would finally stop asking when you will get involved with someone? Me neither, but "Kanojo, Okarishimasu” lets us see, how it would look like, or at least I'd like to say that... "Rent a Girlfriend" will show us in a way which we would never expect. It's not a basic story about renting temporary girlfriends and how this job looks like. Over time initially the peaceful and ordinary story turns into a fight for the main character, but not everyone is aware of it. 

__Story:__
Kazuya Kinoshita is a desperate college student who gets very depressed after breaking up with his first girlfriend. While browsing his phone he finds an application called "Diamond" which allows the user to rent a temporary girlfriend. Wanting to check what exactly it is, he opens a tab with the most popular novice - Mizuhara Chizuru. Deciding to fill the hole in his heart, he rents the above mentioned girl. The whole date is going great but after it ends, the main character reads reviews of the rented girl and states that she is simply playing with the feelings of her clients. He follows his statement up with a negative review and hires her again to tell her what he thinks about this situation. Upon hearing Kazuya's words, Mizuhara reveals her true personality by starting an argument and revealing her cards, while confirming that it was all acting. At one point, Kazuya gets a phone call telling him that his grandmother got hospitalized. The boy is forced to take his fake girlfriend with him, introducing her to his family, whose dream was for Kazuya to find himself the right woman. A similar situation occurs with Chizuru, who in such circumstances, not wanting to reveal the truth, is forced to pretend to be a couple with Kazuya. 

But do not expect such a great and innovative rom-com here, most of the plot is a mashup of already seen ideas - we can see the fake couple theme for example in "Nisekoi", and the humor is mainly about making fun of the inept, main character and erotic jokes. However, what makes the story of "Kanojo, Okarishimasu" a little bit more interesting than others are the unpredictable moments that happen almost everywhere. Miyajima Reiji, who is responsible for the story, thought about it well, which is of course a big plus. Since the anime is made with a day per episode in mind, it creates a coherent and pleasant to watch experience where each episode continues from where the last one left off. Watching further, we get to know more girls from the same industry and even the main character's ex-girlfriend is not left out and often adds fuel to the fire.

The series also has it’s cons and there is no way to ignore the mediocre romance, which on the first sight looks great, but continuing, the author makes us understand that we will have to struggle with very, very slow pacing. The first season is dedicated to getting to know all the characters. The amount of screen time for each of the girls was split unevenly and favourably, as we can see with every other girl that isn’t Mizuhara getting much less scenes. Twelve episodes is definitely an insufficient amount, and the second ending, which summarizes an entire chapter of the manga, only confirms this. The first episodes were perfect reproductions of the manga panels, with changed chronology at times, but in the following episodes, much of the original content was omitted, so during watching, you can get the impression that something is missing. The anime also ended in the worst possible way, the finale lacks closing of some individual plot points and anyone can see with their naked eye that it was all done in a rush.

__Characters: __
Miyajima Reiji did his best in creating all characters personalities. However, I get the impression that not everyone fully understood the motives of the characters. 
Of course, Kazuya is definitely one of the most annoying people imaginable - overly stupid, has no real communication skills, and his decisions make you want to punch him with all your might. But wasn't he supposed to be like that? Personally, I can't imagine a better main character for this title. He also adds a bit of freshness as we don't always get to see a character like him.
Then, there is Kazuya's ex-girlfriend, who we meet in the first seconds of the anime. She is an antagonist that after breaking up with our protagonist at the start of the series. Later she found out about "Kazuya's new girlfriend" and, out of jealousy, wants to destroy their relationship, mocking Kinoshita at every possible opportunity and putting him in awkward situations. She has a clear goal and it is to destroy Kazuya's relationship with Chizuru.Of course she doesn't want to do that in the name of revenge, but she can't bear the thought that her ex-boyfriend has moved on from her and is getting more distant by the day.  
Every heroine has her own unique personality and problems, and each one of those girls that work as rental girlfriends have their own reasons for taking the job.

However, the adaptation is getting in our way again, and it doesn't explain everything properly as it should. Many of the problems and reasons described above have been given insufficient time to be explained, which lowers the overall rating.

__Graphics:__
The visuals are nice and pleasing to the eye, but I can't add anything else here. The biggest plus are characters, which were made with ridiculous attention to detail and have great designs. The color palette has been selected perfectly, so we can feel the emotions emanating from the characters. First plan looks pretty good, although it doesn't stand out at literally anything compared to the other series. In this anime we certainly won't see many backgrounds but, once they appear, there is nothing to be too delighted with. TMS Entertainment gave up the chance to use the wonderful second plans from the manga. Mostly the focus is on what is closer, and the backgrounds are sometimes blurred. Still, I have to say that the animation is great, especially in opening and ending.The girls' dances which are already known by everyone look extremely smooth, and the rest is nothing worse. Harmonious transitions add swing , and the whole thing looks really aesthetic. 
Animation surpasses the graphics, but adding both of these factors together does not look too bad.

__Sound: __
In the case of music, we get a mix of J-rock and electronic music with both calm and rhythmic tracks that play depending on the situation on the screen. The soundtrack is quite specific, some of the songs stand out from the ones we usually hear in anime, but I have to say it fits perfectly here. The opening is appealing, the melody is catchy and encourages us to watch the episode. The ending is kept in the same style as the opening. These songs are typical amongst anime, music with similar moods can be heard in many other titles. The anime studio also chose talented and known Seiyuu, whose voices we could hear in famous works such as: "Konosuba", "Re:zero", "Nanatsu no Taizai" or "Black Clover".
 
__Conclusion/Summary:__
To sum it all up, "Kanokari" is certainly not a 100% successful adaptation. The number of flaws, unexplained details and missed plot points is dazzling and outweighs the not very many positives that we have. 
The first season had a little more potential that the creators lost. I have mixed feelings about the upcoming sequel. Still, I advise you to give this title a try: the cons of this anime can be dimmed by its interesting episodes, and even embarrassing moments shouldn't spoil the fun of watching Rent-a-Girlfriend.

Walking bruh moment changes his life with one app. 

_Mild Language, Light Spoilers, but nothing direct._

This show ended up being really hit or miss depending on the episode. I think it lacked a lot in pacing, delivery, and didn't really give each of the characters enough breathing room, at least compared to the manga. As a standalone rom-com/drama it was completely average, save for a story that is reasonably unique.

Visually it was lacking a bit, the intro and outro were decent, and I especially loved in innuendo in the ending. But outside of the characters, many of the episodes were sort of empty in background detail (with some especially rough lines, is that supposed to be a style? It just looks bad.) unless the scene was something wildly important. However, even in important scenes they tended to focus exclusively on individual faces to limit the amount of background in the shot. Most of the scenes just felt and looked rushed when combined with the pacing.

Audio wise this show excelled a bit. The intro and outro music were amazing, and I ended up listening to them a couple times independent of the show. The characters each had a voice actor that I felt fit, and the background music was decent, outside of one track I felt was a bit overused in a tense scene. It was in almost every one.

While it did bring a unique idea story wise, I felt some of the pieces that drove the plot forward followed some common troupes that annoyed me. A lot of the meetings were coincidental and some of the "fights" just made me cringe because the main character is so damn terrible at being a human. You can argue that it's anime, it's not meant to be human, or that to a certain point that's somewhat the idea of the show - I mean what do you expect from a guy literally renting a girlfriend - but jesus christ he's braindead at points. To be honest though, I forgave this about the story because at a certain level I just found the show so damn enjoyable to watch. I'm not sure what it was, but every sorta _meh_ piece came together to form something _good enough_. Much of that probably came for rooting for Chizuru.

As enjoyable as it is, I don't think you can ignore how much this show lacks character wise. I think the best example is how much Sumi was ~~gutted~~ ignored. Being given a preview and level of suspense in the episode before, she ended up getting only about an eight of an episode to work with before leading to Mami. Speaking of Mami, she is a lot more of a b**** compared to the manga, not by much, but something about her character expressions and voice acting doesn't give me the same feeling. It's hard to explain it to those who haven't/won't read it, but I don't think the show gave time to fully develop motives, or at least it didn't hover on the scenes that would help you realize them.

Ruka is still a b**** though, so they at least did that right. Congrats show, you get a completely average score.

Interesting characters, a new plot, and doesn't take place in high school. Unfortunately bad pacing and meh visuals.

At first I did not intend to see this anime because of its title "rent a girlfriend" which seemed horrible to me for being male chauvinist, but then I discovered that this job existed in real life and that it is not as bad as it seems, so I decided to watch the anime because I had liked the Go Toubun no Hanayome harem and I thought I was going to like this one too. Bad decision.

To begin with, the first chapter is full of clichés, ecchi moments typical of every harem, a supposed love triangle that we already know how it will end from the beginning, the typical "I know someone in a circumstance but then it turns out that they have another personality and another life" And the most ridiculous: the protagonists are neighbors and they never knew it.
The good thing about the first chapter is that a lot of things happen and it keeps you hooked, what's more, there are things that I liked, like the personality of the protagonist who, at times, showed human qualities and continues to do so throughout from the rest of the series, but then he does something super stupid like following his fake girlfriend for an entire day out of jealousy. Ridiculous. I want to clarify that I do not like the protagonist, I only accept him as he is and nothing else.
The big problem is that I don't like any couple, maybe I like Sumi with Kazuya a bit, since he takes the initiative and stops being ridiculous for a moment, but Chizuru with Kazuya I don't think so. I never felt that Chizuru could fall in love with Kazuya, a depressed person with many personal problems. . . But I like their relationship, as friends.
Chizuru as a character sometimes I don't like her, but as a person I like her, so I'm not going to complain. Ruka seems unbearable to me, I detest typical harem characters who are crazy about the protagonist, they are stupid, they do not seem real. The only thing they seem is: a character that an author wrote for his work, and that this character is crazy (excessively) for a protagonist who does not feel the same, but, at the same time, his audience likes this character and them they want the same thing to happen to them, but in real life nobody would act like that, or at least they would have more brains.
Sumi is fine, I mean, there are people who are shy in real life and it is a problem that needs therapy but those people exist and I think it is good that a problem like this is addressed in this anime.
Well, as you can see, anime has good points but it is boring, or at least it was for me. Nothing interesting happens, this season Kazuya is lying, lying and lying. The only thing that changes is that at first Kazuya was crazy about Mami and then he starts to develop feelings for Chizuru. In that case, I don't know what characters like Ruka and Sumi are for, just to have a harem, mainly Ruka.
Also, am I the only one who thinks that all conflicts are the protagonist's fault? That is, conflicts are ridiculous and only exist because without them the plot would not exist. And it is bad to think that they are so easy to solve but still nothing happens.

In conclusion, the only thing I expected from the anime is that it would demonstrate the work of a rental girlfriend or the experiences that one has, but what I get is a harem ecchi with a protagonist who cannot say what he feels and covers everything with lies. It is a harem for the male audience, and yes, I know that the harem is mainly aimed at men but, as I said before, Go Toubun no Hanayome is a harem and I feel like it can be liked by everyone regardless of gender.

So if you like the harem, if you like ecchi, if you like cute characters, toxic ex-girlfriends, an embarrassing protagonist, and love triangles, you will like this.
Otherwise, I do not recommend it. I was reading the other reviews and everyone was saying it wasn't a perfect anime, but it entertained them, and I get it, they all have their own tastes. But at least I'm not the only one to admit that this anime has several flaws, personally more than I expected.

Kanojo Okarishimasu could have been so much better

<Minor Spoilers Ahead>

Aaaaaawwwwwwwwwwww man! It’s the obligatory dumpster fire harem romcom show of the year everyone! Sound the alarms! Whether it was over flipping their shits over how Kazuya, our protagonist, is such a living bruh moment, fighting each other over their best girl (it’s Sumi by the way), or literally pointing out how the entire concept of the show is softcore prostitution, “Kanojo Okarishimasu”, or “Rent-A-Girlfriend”, was definitely the talk for non-sequential anime this season.

So as I must: let’s break it down like we always do here.

Story (3/10): Okay, I’ll be the first to admit that the storyline for Rent-A-Girlfriend is pretty flimsy. We can even say it starts at the beginning. Episode One does a good job setting the rules of “the world” the characters live in, but the rest of the story doesn’t rely on these ground rules too much and the future events don’t rely on these facts too often. Instead, the main drive of the story revolved around one person being kept in the dark about the romance in the show. When it gets to the point where they are the one of the only two or three factors keeping them together, it’s reasonable to say that any future events only happen because the author says so rather than highlighting the outside factors that truly bring them together.

Minus the flimsy main drive, the story also has some gaping plot holes. I’m going to admit I was one of those people who tried to defend the plot holes, but when the author makes so many of them, it’s often hard to explain why the story and characters behave the way they do. I’m not going into major detail about them because of spoilers, but plot holes concerning the characters’ feelings for each other, some of their actions going forward in the story, and, more importantly, being kept in the dark about the romance in the story almost becomes unbelievable at some point.

But fortunately, Rent-A-Girlfriend did save itself by having the main character have SOME character progression and the general plotline of the story made sense, even if it was littered with plot holes

Characters (3/10): To say the very least, Rent-A-Girlfriend has pretty poor characters. It’s especially clear to see how poor the characters are if the show introduced one of the main characters AT THE SECOND TO LAST EPISODE, but I digress.

To start off, we can’t talk about characters without talking about our idiot Kazuya, right? As I said before, Kazuya is a living bruh moment. Some of his thoughts, his actions, and his motives are downright questionable and childish that makes even the real-life horny, otaku high schoolers look like mature, middle-aged businessmen. Even though I do appreciate the subtle differences in his character and some genuinely good acts he does, his good acts that happen are so sporadic and out of nowhere that it makes it hard for me to believe him as a character. But the worst part of him is that for some reason, the girls (except for one) forgive him for the large messes he made, just for him to go on and make more messes.

But unlike the bruh moment that is Kazuya, the girls in this series are fairly decent. Chizuru, our “main girl” of our series, is such a good girl that she just transcends the human world of women because of how fine she is and becomes… a useless goddess *insert Aqua.* But in all seriousness, she is such a good character not because she’s really pretty (more about character designs later) or her witty attitude, but by how mature she is. Even as she knows that Kazuya’s romantic life is a trainwreck, she stays by him and helps him know that he needs her help to get over his current situation and move on for him not to be only happier, but to better himself as a person as well. I don’t know if that’s waifu enough for you, but that is good waifu material (saying this as a Sumi fan.) Unfortunately, she doesn’t do much for her “character development.” She stays stagnant throughout the story and almost seems way too perfect to be realistic as a character.

Now we get onto our next girl, the “worst girl” of this series, Mami. A lot of people are giving her slick for being an asshole, which she is, but they don’t realize that she’s actually in the right in all of this. The way she was treated perfectly justifies why she made the decisions she made, even if it did come off as a little antagonizing, and still put her in the same category as Rachel and Myne. But similar to Chizuru, she also falls short in the “character development” area. She doesn’t get ANY development throughout the twelve-episode range and just remains an asshole. There’s no inkling of development anywhere, but I am excited to see where her progression goes.

Unfortunately, the rest of the girls quite fall short. For one thing, one of the girls, Sumi (my personal favorite) isn’t even INTRODUCED until basically the very end, so I can’t say much about her besides “she’s adorably shy” (which is why I like her.) The other girl, Ruka, is a mess of a character. She’s also very one-dimensional as a character, which is basically being an “attached Baka-desu” for the entirety of the episode. Although they do explain her over-attachment within the ending sequence, it came off as extremely shallow and the only reason for her attached personality.

So basically, besides the fact they have at least some romantic feelings for the main character (as the harem tag suggests), the girls are at least decent in their own right.

Art: (7/10) Even as a typical slice of life show that isn’t drama heavy like Oregairu, I found the art for Rent-A-Girlfriend very appealing. Although it wasn’t something astonishing that made me jump out of my seat, I enjoyed the pretty visuals, especially the characters’ eyes and the very good character designs for all the girls. I can tell this is just a sign of the times and how anime’s improved in general, but I still appreciate the artwork that went into the show.

Sound: (5/10) As for sound, the OSTs were adequate for the show and supplemented it well, the OP/ED were all very catchy, with the special ED sequence especially hitting hard with the lyrics and tone of the song, and the voice acting, as expected from the top tier female seiyuus, making the sound direction for this anime a good experience.

Enjoyment: (6/10) Even though I spent a majority of my review bashing the anime for its weak storyline and characters, I still enjoyed this show for what it is: mindless trashy romcom experience. Yes, some moments made me bash my head on my desk or scream at my screen about why some characters were acting the way they were, which is why I only gave my enjoyment a “6” rating, I'll still appreciate how the show gave me very good laughs and a general enjoyable experience.

So should you watch Rent-A-Girlfriend? I mean, if all you want is a dumpster fire, fun romcom experience with good-looking waifus, you definitely should.

Flimsy story, Flimsy characters, good looking art, and sound, and genuinely enjoyed the dumpster fire trash that it was

a word that describes the main character. I can't talk about the anime without starting with him. One of the worst main protagonists I've seen in a long time. but his character is also the reason for all this nonsense happening.  His character is bad but gives the writer space to use it to start a problem with other characters. This thing is not bad at all. we see it on lots of other animes where the characters are written badly for the sake of the plot. But, I expected him to at least do something in the final scene. 
I loved the waifus here. especially Mizuhara. the best character in the show in my opinion. She is the reason I continued watching even after I losing hope in Kazuya. Ruka is a good character as well, but I did not like her first appearance. she left a bad impression at first but I began to like her afterward. which led me to think that the writer rushed her appearance -at least in the anime cuz I know nothing about the manga-. Mami-chan is the bitch character in the show. can't help but hate her, even though her character is well written. I think the thing that makes me think she is well written is how she is the only character in the main cast who criticizes Kazuya and sees him as I do.
I think the first ark where Kazuya and Mizuhara met and started to know each other was the best in the show. but it didn't keep up with the good start. I wanted to see the reaction of Mami after Kazuya saved Mizuhara. but we did not see a good conclusion to the ark. this is where the show's quality started to fall in my opinion. 
other characters like the grandmothers gave the show some good comedy scenes. espicially on the hot spring ark and the ark after Christmas/new year.
speaking of arks, I think the anime has a bad way of splitting them, some useless arks took part in the anime that did not deserve. like Sumi Sakurasawa's ark. I don't think it added any value to the anime. at least not in the 1st season, it is obvious that the character will have more appearances in the 2nd season, I hope that she will be a good character, I cannot have an opinion of her since we didn't see much from her. but her having a whole episode for her in this season will be unforgiven if she turned to be a useless character. 
it seems that the anime cannot give us a proper conclusion to any ark. including the final one. I expected to see a different reaction from Mizuhara after Kazuya's confession. but she let it slip as she did in every episode. 
hope we see a good ending to the story in season 2 even though I doubt that. especially after I saw the manga readers' opinion on it.

I know I'll keep up with this show when its second season comes (edit: nevermind), but I simply cannot get myself to enjoy it. It has a ton of great things about it, but those things just can't help me get past what I absolutely ***hate*** about this show. For the sake of keeping score and explaining its final score, let's give the show a hypothetical 70 points to start out with. Now, I'll list the things I generally found good about the show.

I have to love an OP/ED, and this show's are phenomenal. I simply can't deny it, I love these songs, and the animation to go with the OP makes it even better. Just for this, I'm giving up 10 points, leaving 85 points for me to drain later on. While I would've given more for the **entire** OST, there just isn't much else in the actual OST that I like very much.

I can't find much else that's *good* about this show. Before I go to cons, I'd like to clarify that this is *highly* opinionative, and I'm probably overexaggerating somewhere. Well, except for this first part:

Kazuya might chip in to how little I can enjoy this, but that's not all of it. While I can understand the use of fan service in a comedic way, I don't exactly see any of the fan service in this to be funny. Actually, it's a bit much for even me, someone who doesn't mind it much. It's not the amount, but instead how it's done (literally being Kazuya's imagination) is just creepy. Sorry, but I'm taking another 10, giving a total 55.

Some of this might seem a little far fetched, and some of it probably is, but it's my review not yours.
* **Why the art points?** Yes, the art isn't great, but really I just wanted to give this show *some* more cushion than "I like the OP." The art is generally good, so any screenshot without Kazuya's face in it will probably make me smile.
 **Is Kazuya really *that* bad?** Yes, holy crap yes. Read any other negative review on this show, and it will probably bring him up. I'm not sure if the good reviews mention that he's "a bit iffy" or not, but I'm definitely not alone in hating him. Dear god, what is it about this guy?
* **If you didn't like it, why'd you keep watching?** The thing is, while Kazuya is what made be dislike this show so much, he's also the reason I kept watching. I genuinely wanted to see this idiot get hurt in some way, and I'm probably going to watch the s2 just for the parts where he suffers. Hell, he might be a bit better in s2, so I'll probably also watch to check if he becomes a better character. (edit: once more, I have changed my mind on this)

Anyway, sorry fans of this show, but I really can't get past Kazuya. If he were just a decent guy, I'd probably give this show an average score, maybe even a bit higher. Everything else about the show is good, so if you think you won't hate him as much as I do, be my guest and watch.

~~~I started watching this anime out of pure curiosity. I got the vibe it’s a harem since I kept seeing four girls and one boy so I was hesitant. I kept seeing how much people love this show and how amazing this anime is but after episode five-six aired, I started seeing hate such as this anime doesn’t worth a shot. This anime sucks, etc. The fact that I started seeing hate and love for this anime got me curious to give it a shot myself and see how this anime exactly is. I watched four episodes and then dropped it. Three months later, two weeks ago, I decided to give it another shot, and BAM I finished it. So here I am writing this blog:

The story is about a simp who is desperate for girls especially his ex named Nami. One day he found an app named “Rent a girlfriend”. Due to his desperation, he decided to rent a girl and try it out. The girl he saw in real life was beyond this world. Chizuru, the girl, held his hand and BAM He fell in love. Desperate for her (and Nami) he requested Chizuru again but this time because of a phone call he had to cut his date and rush to the hospital. When his bedridden grandma saw Kazuya with a cute girl she got filled with joy and hope which made Kazuya lie and introduce her as his real girlfriend. The rest of the story is about how they maintain this lie, try to help Kazuya get a real girlfriend, and how Kazuya falls more and more in love with Chizuru.

Just like many other romance anime this anime is filled with cliche. Some of them bothered me and some were cute and okay. One of the cliches that seriously bothered me was the fact Chizuru and Kazuya live next to each other. Not only it was predictable but also too good to be true. Idk if it’s a common cliche or not but I truly dislike it. I rolled my eyes the moment I saw them in the same building.

Another cliche that I’m normally okay with but I feel betrayed is the fact three hot girls fell in love with Kazuya when he fell in love with Chizuru. You may ask why this bothered me. Well... There is no “haram” in the genre section. Idk how they don’t consider this harem. 2 girls are obviously in love with him. Another, Chizuru, seems like she likes him and Sumi, aka best girl, seems confused? I’ll talk about her more later. No one looked at Kazuya what so ever :/ even his ex didn’t give a fuck but the moment he started fake dating Chizuru random girls fell in love with him. I understand the ex part since jealousy has a huge part in getting back someone but the other two girls? ??‍♀️ 

Another thing that truly bothered me was the pace. It was hellaaaaa slow. The first five-six episodes felt like hell and I had to make coffee to get through each episode. 12 episodes and they freaking introduced a girl in episode 11??!! What the hell is wrong with them? They could remove a bunch of nonsense and just introduce the cute and best girl Sumi earlier. The only reason I finished this series was that I kept waiting to see Sumi. When she appeared in episode 11 I was like “one episode? :/ let’s just finish it”

I was checking MAL the other day and I saw it's pg-13... is this a joke??? If you don’t know what pg-13 means it means “Parents Strongly Cautioned, Some Material May Be Inappropriate for Children Under 13”. I don’t comaider this anime pg-13 at all. I read a bunch of blogs on how realistic this anime is but tbh I believe it shows how men are a lowlife. Most men indeed have low self-esteem and they can be desperate for girls but in truth, they ain't as desperate as Kazuya.

Another thing that bothered me was the fact Kazuya started dating Ruka while saying he is in love with Chizuru. Boys do that :) I know. But Ruka is beautiful, young, and in love with Kazuya. I’m pretty sure Kazuya is blind to ignore her. I’ll talk about her bad side in the character section but overall I’m pretty sure Kazuya is being a bad boyfriend to her.

Rent a girlfriend? More like Nisekoi season 3. I know it has a lot of differences but it also has a lot of similarities.

Rent a girlfriend focuses on four girls and Kazuya the main guy. But, It also has other characters such as Kazuya’s parents and grandma, Kazuya’s best friend and classmate, Chizuru’s grandma, and a guy who helps Chizuru. They don't have much screentime but Kazuya’s grandma has an important role in the anime. She is the reason why Kazuya asked Chizuru to fake date her... Well, she gets paid but still....

I consider Kazuya a total loser but the fact he jumped in to save Chizuru made me like him a bit. He is whiny and an over-thinker. Someone who keeps talking to himself about how trash he is. I'm okay with boys crying and showing emotion but Kazuya cries a lot even for receiving a gift from a girl. I find that side of him annoying... I also didn't like the fact he started dating Ruka without having feelings. You can say he had character development... In the beginning, all he wanted was to lose his virginity and get back Nami but later we see he ran away from Ruka because he likes Chizuru so I must say Good Job Kazuya!! I also dislike how it took him 12 episodes to tell Chizuru he wants her :) so now we have to wait for next season to see Chizuru’s reply.

Chizuru... the girl who likes Kazuya but doesn’t bother to show it. Or maybe she doesn’t want to admit she fell for a client? Idk. As a girl I know the more I spend time with someone the more we’ll get attached. So I found her deal with “fake date till he finds a girlfriend” idiotic. It was obvious he would fall for her and wouldn’t have the time to see someone else. So... why the hell did she tell him such a deal? Maybe she wanted his money? Maybe she likes him? I don’t know and I have to wait for season two to see her answer to his confession.

Mami is Kazuya’s first girlfriend. She dumped him after one month making Kazuya feel horrible. After seeing Kazuya with Chizuru, she started showing her true side aka trashiness. She started giving hits such as having sex or kissing him while he is on a date with Chizuru or inviting him to the pool, etc. Kazuya wanted Mami to get jealous so he did get what he wanted but the way Mami acted showed what a lowlife she is. She could ask Kazuya to get back together or something but she decided to approach him the sexual way. By the end of the first season, we see she even found out about Chizuru being a rental. 
I consider Mami trash. In my eyes, any girl who approaches a taken guy is bad. I just don’t understand one thing why does Mami have more likes than Chizuru on both MAL and AniList??? How???

I freaking liked Ruka’s past. Having a girl that isn’t only beautiful but also has a sickness made me like this show a bit. It also makes Ruka’s love for Kazuya and why she is greedy to have him, logical. In harem anime, girls go after the guy mostly without a proper reason but in Ruka’s case, it's different. Kazuya is the first guy/ human to ever make her heartbeat rate go up. Ruka has a condition named “arrhythmia“ which is real ? I searched it up. She suffers from bradycardia which is When a heart beats too slowly. She decided to become a rental girlfriend to find a guy who would be able to make her heartbeat rate normal and BAM Kazuya was the one. I don't like her pushy personality and how annoying she can get but I also dislike how Kazuya started dating her half-hearted.

__Sumi __

This baby got introduced so late :( she only appeared in one episode but I freaking love her. Chizuru asked Kazuya to go on a free date with Sumi because she is too shy which makes clients feel uncomfortable or makes them feel like they forced her to come. Kazuya accepted since he likes her. They went on a date and Kazuya tried hard to change her a bit which he did. He found out the reason Sumi wants to be a rent girlfriend is that she wants to change and become more social.  While they were on a date Trash appeared and she was like “oho Kazuya is two-timing” ? she even told Kazuya she won't tell Chizuru and I was there cursing. BITCHHH you freaking kissed him, invited him to your room, invited him to the pool, and now you have the nerve to tell Kazuya “i won't tell Chizuru you're two-timing” :/ 

__Art and Animation__
To be honest what encouraged me most to start this anime was the art. All the screencaps and visual arts looked seriously beautiful. BUT when I started the anime I noticed nothing’s detailed or beautiful but GIRLS. Girls were mostly perfect. The eyes, the blush, the clothes, etc... everything about the girls was perfect. The rest of the anime seemed rushed and meh. Not much detail or anything special. They spent a lot of time only on girls. I must say even tho only girls were perfect I still enjoyed the art and animation. Even the low-quality parts looked cute (funny in a way). 

__Soundtrack__

The opening of the anime is named “centimeters”. Even tho I find the opening annoying I must admit the transitions used in it is smooth. On the other hand, I freaking love the ending. The ending’s title is “Kokuhaku Bungee Jumping”. Whoever came up with the ending is a total legend. If you don't get the ending you're going to heaven for sure. Not only the visuals of the ending is pretty good but the song is also fire. remember I said Mami is trash... In the ending, they put Mami last at the end and it cuts straight from her to a trash can. I freaking love whoever came up with this idea. 

__Overall__
Altogether this anime is a normal harem. The story is unique with the whole “rent a girlfriend” thing. the pace is seriously slow and annoying. At first, each episode felt like ages and I had to have coffee with me to finish. The characters are seriously cute and lovable except for Nami. She is cute but not lovable. I still don't understand how she has more likes than other girls. The art seemed rushed at some parts but the characters were mostly detailed and beautiful. The opening and ending were smooth, especially the transitions were seriously good. The songs were also good but my most fave was the ending, ? especially the visuals. I recommend this anime to harem fans.

The Rent-a-Girlfriend anime has done the impossible by perfectly adapting the manga and even elevating itself beyond its source material in some areas. The start of the anime is just as good, if not better than, the perfect start of the manga.

The plot of Rent-a-Girlfriend is its main selling point. The plot of Rent-a-Girlfriend is phenomenal and puts many other rom-coms to shame. The premise of our main lead, [Kazuya Kinoshita](https://anilist.co/character/128105/Kazuya-Kinoshita), renting our other main lead, [Chizuru Ichinose](https://anilist.co/character/128106/Chizuru-Ichinose), is such a unique idea among the [romance](https://anilist.co/search/manga/Romance) and [comedy](https://anilist.co/search/manga/Comedy) genres. It is such an odd concept, but it manages to be incredibly captivating and adds a lot of fun drama that is unlike any other anime out there. Kazuya renting Chizuru leads to many misunderstandings which forces them to put a front that they are actually dating. Although they are only pretending they do end up getting closer to one another while also indirectly aiding each other in their endeavors. Kazuya learns to be happy again after his previous breakup and Chizuru improves as an actress while acting as the perfect girlfriend for Kazuya. This season only covers the tip of the iceberg, but it does a wonderful job adapting the amazing beginning of Rent-a-Girlfriend.

Rent-a-Girlfriend also has a wonderful array of characters driving its plot. Ranging from the despair filled Kazuya to the dream chasing Chizuru, Rent-a-Girlfriend has it all. Our main characters get the majority of the spotlight, but let's not forget about the amazing side characters of Rent-a-Girlfriend too. In this season we are introduced some of the many magnificent side characters of the Rent-a-Girlfriend world such as [Mami Nanami](https://anilist.co/character/154224/Mami-Nanami), [Ruka Sarashina](https://anilist.co/character/147005/Ruka-Sarashina), and [Sumi Sakurasawa](https://anilist.co/character/144665/Sumi-Sakurasawa).

Being Kazuya’s ex-girlfriend, Mami Nanami plays the role of an antagonist. She does not like the fact that Kazuya has found happiness with Chizuru after she had broken up with him. She adds a lot of good drama and tension to the story and also throws a wrench into Kazuya and Chizuru’s relationship. Her existence poses a threat to Kazuya and Chizuru’s relationship which helps highlight how Kazuya and Chizuru’s bond is much more than just a fake relationship. Although she is an antagonist she is one of the most interesting characters in the Rent-a-Girlfriend story.

The secondary love interest of the story is Ruka Sarashina. She suffers from arrhythmia which causes her heart to beat too slowly. Kazuya is the first person to make her heart race in her life which causes her to wholeheartedly pursue Kazuya. She acts as a good contrast to Chizuru and makes the romance aspect of the story much more interesting. Although she plays second fiddle for a majority of the story it is hard not to root for her pursuit of love.

Finally we have Sumi Sakurasawa, the shy and determined rental girlfriend. Sumi realized that her shyness posed a problem in regular day-to-day life. In order to tackle this issue she becomes a rental girlfriend like Chizuru. We do not get to see much of Sumi in this season, but we do get to see her slowly begin to open up after her rental date with Kazuya. Sumi offers a good insight into what the other rental girlfriends other than Chizuru are like. She is one of the most pure characters in the story and it is hard not to like her.

The side characters of Rent-a-Girlfriend compliment our main characters really well and add a lot of interesting ideas to the plot. As a whole, the wonderful characters of Rent-a-Girlfriend make the world feel much more alive and elevate the plot beyond what it already was.

[TMS Entertainment](https://anilist.co/studio/73/TMS-Entertainment) did not have to animate a rom-com this good. The animation for Rent-a-Girlfriend is top tier in the rom-com genre. Not only is the animation smooth, but the art is phenomenal too. Rent-a-Girlfriend is like the [Demon Slayer](https://anilist.co/anime/101922/Demon-Slayer-Kimetsu-no-Yaiba/) of rom-com anime when it comes to animation. Adapting a manga with amazing art was already hard, but TMS Entertainment managed to pull it off in both the art and animation departments.

Mizuhara’s theme completely captures the essence of Mizuhara’s character and elevates every scene that it is used in. The OST of Rent-a-Girlfriend is one of the aspects that elevates the anime beyond the already nearly perfect manga.
