When they were accused of trying to overthrow the monarchy, the feared warriors the Seven Deadly Sins were sent into exile. -I watched the Dubbed version and have not read the manga, so some things may not have translated well which may affect how I review this show

-This will contain minor spoilers, but I will try to avoid it.

__Story__

The Seven Deadly Sins was a surprise to me as it was flying under my radar and I only watched it because it showed up on netflix, and I am happy that I did. The story in this show is extremely well paced, with the only problem being that there is a point near the end of the season (episodes 18-21) that were not up to par with the rest of the series. They do a really good job of keeping the episodes fairly compact story wise so that you never feel overwhelmed with story development which is important for a series that has a universe as expansive as this one. Also, the universe in this show is incredibly gripping and it makes you want to keep watching more.

__Characters__

Another great this about this show is that the characters are paced well. That may sound weird, but the way in which each of the “sins” are introduced is done quite well. They allow enough time for characters already in the group to have some development with the new one, and then they introduce the new one. 

I would say this is true for everyone but Gowther, who in my opinion was done fairly poorly.  I will say that the only character which I felt was annoying is Hawk and that they should have replaced her role in the show with one of the Sins. 

To touch on the Main Villains real quick, I felt that they all had good backstory and were not just “Villains to be Villains”, except for that fairy guy, whose whole existence in the story felt like emotion bait to me.

_Note: I am excluding Merlin because she did not have enough screen time for me to consider her part of the group._

__Art/Sound__

The animation was done fairly well in this show. I did notice that they did kind of run out of ideas for the design of holy knights by the end, but it didn't hurt my enjoyment of the show. The action was fast paced and well choreographed. No complaints really, pretty much just  average. The opening and ending were very well done in their choices for music and even in the show during combat the music that they used was well  chosen.

The Dub that I watched was very good and even though I can't really compare it to the voice actors in the Japanese version, they got all of the characters voices spot on.

__Enjoyment__

I actually really enjoyed watching the show. I was mostly surprised with how much I enjoyed the terribly cliche “romance” between Elizabeth and Meliodas. The action reminded me somewhat of how DBZ fights felt which was a plus, except that the resolution occurred much faster in each episode compared to DBZ. I think that if the show had more episodes they could have made some of the power creep in the beginning not feel as jolting as the show progressed.

STORY/PLOT/THOUGHTS
I did not enjoy this show, but it had some redeeming qualities. The best way I can put it is that The Seven Deadly Sins is like a strawberry smoothie with a little mucus mixed in. Ban, Gilthunder, and King’s past are some of the absolute best things about this show. I enjoyed the slow development of who the big bad bosses really were and some information about Meliodas’ true origin. Fight scenes are nicely-executed as well. 

However, I was really turned off by the copious blood vomits/spit-takes (it's like the blood spews out in two forms: bite-sized nuggets and water hose pressure), Meliodas’ gropey-grabby hands (the fanservice feels icky and too contrived; sorry not sorry), and Elizabeth’s utter uselessness (I swear her personality is “best girl”; I personally just don’t care about moe chicks). 

Now, I love romance as I’m always reading a good shoujo, but I didn’t care for Elizabeth’s undying love for our golden boy. I actually preferred Ban’s thinly-developed love more even though I can’t stand lolicon stuff. This show's relationships are a bit weird just so you know that going in. ~!Some of the adults watch their love interests grow up from literal babies/toddlers to adults. o_O!~

Also, the story moved too slowly in certain episodes before picking up an exciting pace toward the 20’s. 

CHARACTERS
I liked the ensemble of characters (minus Elizabeth), and their bits of development. Meliodas definitely wasn't the most likable character, but he wasn't one of those MCs that you beg to get off the screen for one reason or another. 

For me, his companions were much cooler. Diane made me feel for her, King's previous whereabouts were interesting, and, of course, I enjoyed Ban a lot. The piggy character runs its mouth too much for me, but it fulfilled the animal sidekick role well enough.

MISC: ANIMATION, VOICE ACTING
As far as the English dub, I thought the voices were good. I think each voice fits its character well though Elizabeth’s voice is sickly sweet and her crying leaves a lot to be desired. 

The animation is very fluid and smooth, but some of the bodies look weirdly disproportionate (i.e Griamore and Elizabeth).

The music is beautiful and empathy-inducing. It helps set the tone well for important scenes. Even by itself, the soundtrack is great.

Is it worth watching? For me, I would’ve dropped this show much quicker if it weren’t for Ban and the interesting build-up to a satisfying end. But for something I found on Netflix, it is pretty entertaining. For all its stupid moments, there is a lot of heart, great characters, and foreshadowing. Check it out for yourself.

There is something that makes some shounen anime really mess up and you always become 'okay' for those anime. You really don't belong for what you enjoy, still kind to pushed up yourself, or you still not understand what shounen is. Shounen anime sometimes becomes normal in the certain arc, other times you become goosebump, or sometimes you become bored with the plot. But, there is some kinda which you wanna go through to all of it even I know everything is overpower and The Seven Deadly Sins is the essential title for the recommendation. The concept is as unique same as Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood which is using a theme about seven deadly sins along with the character form. But, Nanatsu no Taizai really goosebump me in every scene, every action, and every intensity. I know this is tantamount to typical shounen anime in general, fanservice, and etc. However, Nanatsu no Taizai is one good title to watch if you are new to anime and things like that.

The main plot is about the misadventures of an ordinary team that travels around the land for looking for other members of a mysterious group known as "The Seven Deadly Sins" which otherwise have disappeared for several years. Initially, we'll be introduced to Elizabeth, the third princess of the Liones kingdom whose her journey seeks for the long lost members of the Seven Deadly Sins in order to restore her kingdom become peace again. The main point focuses on Elizabeth with her mission trying to locate the member but it really doesn't get any point for her. Like the various shounen anime, Nanatsu no Taizai comes with a variety of characters, the background of each character, jokes, conversation, humor, drama, and action. If you dig below, it has so many flaws of what you're thinking. But, I thought I just enjoy the various battles between characters with characters along with their background and diversity. It's really a purpose and story so you keep trying to enjoy the plot that's not too difficult and not too easy. Nanatsu no Taizai is always in balance where the speedometer is in the middle.

With a studio that also produces Sword Art Online and Fairy Tail, Nanatsu no Taizai is one of the most classified types of high quality. You can see the flow and detail so well, the characters designs which are also very good, the backgrounds, and the animation when it comes related to the overpowered fight scenes. Although it's not like Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail, or anime which it made by A-1 Pictures, Nanatsu no Taizai has a resemblance to Ao no Exorcist but raises the tone with a high-contrast. Tensai Okamura is the same person who directed both and he always maintained the quality in various episodes.

I did not know that Sawano Hiroyuki was part of the music and I also noticed it after several years of watching it, I was still unconscious. Like the animation, the music in this series has its own unique element and more concerned with the quality. The music sometimes partly by always repeating it in every scene but what's wrong when all of it fits in various scenes. The openings and endings are the best which is all four songs are memorable. I prefer the "Seven Deadly Sins" performed by MAN WITH A MISSION when compared to the others which I also consider other are good. For the voice actor, I think there is almost everything I know when filling out the voices of those characters.

For most of the characters, there are many unique things that you can explore in this aspect. The main heroine, Elizabeth Liones, seems to have a little role that's not too sufficient to explain her nature. There is still much that needs to be explained so that she can become a character who participates with other main characters although she is the main focus in here. Meliodas is a good funny guy and he has a well-development character that never changes, just for the first season. Some of the backstories that are still vague make us more curious again to be able to see them with various nature. By watching the rest of the episodes without explaining at the beginning, there are Ban, King, Diane, Gowther, Merlin, and the sidekick pig, Hawk. I know there are some flaws in those characters where the backstory of each character is still vague. But, the second season is still one episode to go or you can read the manga that is beyond far away.

With those flaws which I don't really care, this is a shounen anime which you just need to enjoy it. There are many great fights that you can get here with all the characters who are almost overpowered everything but you still care about those characters. It has a great humor, simple plot but really enjoying, great characters and much more. So, I will not say it because this anime will not make you regret it unless you don't really like shounen or anything related.

Nanatsu no Taizai is a fantastic action adventure anime. It's kinda misadventures at the same times but never run off the stories which are shown. Great characters although have some flaws, great soundtrack with the openings and endings, great animation done by famous studios, and make you feel funny, dramatic, and fierce at certain times. For the first season, I think this is one of the shounen that really goosebumps in a certain scene. Bottom line, it's enjoyment and I still enjoy the second season although I've also been watching and reading this series.

A great shounen anime which it has some flaw but, why not?

Welcome to my review of "The Seven Deadly Sins" or "Nanatsu no Taizai", before we begin with the proper Review, i would like to say that this will be my first Review of a piece of media, as such i would greatly appreciate any constructive criticism that you have for me, and also i'm sorry for any grammatical errors that you may encounter.

I'll try to make this Review as non-watcher friendly as possible. (this means i will not be spoiling any major plots that happened in the first Season of "The Seven Deadly Sins" also this Review will be more-so from memory as i've watched the Season a year ago.

# 1. The Story

"The Seven Deadly Sins" is a story about the 7 Knights which all have one Sin as their main Character attribute, (as the name would suggest). Our main Heroes are as follows : Meliodas the Captain of our team and also the Sin of wrath , Ban the immortal Human, the Sin of Greed and a great friend of Meliodas, Harlequin "King" the Fairy King and the Sin of sloth, Diane the Giantess deeply in love with the Captain and also the Sin of Envy, Gowther the Sin of Lust, Merlin the wizard with immense power and the Sin of Gluttony and also last but not least Escanor a Human with a peculiar power and also the Sin of Pride.

The Story begins with Elizabeth that ran away from the Palace in Lioness to search for the Illusive Seven Deadly Sins, a small Tavern she meets a Young, Blonde Boy that apparently runs the place, he serves great bear although the food is terrible! He also has a talking pig called Hawk. Elizabeth tells the Boy that she is on a search after the Seven Deadly Sins, and later learns that she already found the first one, because the Boy is actually the Captain of the Seven Deadly Sins, Meliodas! We also learn that the Seven Deadly Sins disbanded after being framed for the murder of the Great Holy Knight, Zaratras, the Seven Deadly Sins went into hiding shortly after that, and thus seperated. 

Meliodas, wanting to help Elizabeth agrees to help her in finding the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins, and thus the Story of the Anime finally goes into motion.

#2. The Artstyle/Animation

The Style and Animation of the show are amazing, even from the beginning i was amazed on how good it looks, everyone is very distinct and you can learn about a Character by just looking at them (which in my opinion is a very important thing.) Everything from just the characters talking, to full on fights look amazing, this is not a big surprise as the first Season was made by A-1 Pictures, which are known for their well made Animes.

If you don't like Animes for the story, and like good looking fights i still would recommend you this anime, although in my opinion you also should enjoy the Action-Packed story.

#3. The Good and The Bad
In my opinion the Anime was great, it had everything that i want in a show and i would even go as far and saying that this is one of the best Fantasy Animes that i've every seen, another good thing for some may be that this Anime is a Netflix Original and as such you can easily stream it on the platform itself without any problems, it's also available in many different languages (Subs and Dubs) so you can watch it even without knowing English or Japanese.

As for some Bad points, which were  very hard for me to find would be that, even if the Show is filled with action, we still have some points where there isn't really much happening, in some areas the story is also a bit lacking, but for me it gets balanced out with all the great scenes and plots that the Anime has to offer.

#4. Recommendations/Should you Watch it?

If you think that the things i've talked about in this review are the things that you look forward to seeing in an Anime then please, watch the Seven Deadly Sins! Although later Seasons aren't that good in both Story and Animation (Season 3) i would still recommend it to you, even because the Story gets much better after the 3rd Season (in manga). 

Also if you like to play gacha games, then i recommend you to download "Seven Deadly Sins : Grand Cross" on your Phone, it's a great game with the whole story of the Anime/Manga as missions in it, it's updated on the regular so you'll never run out of content.

The Seven Deadly Sins is a great series that you should watch if you're a fantasy fan.
