Also known as Elfen Song, Elfic Song
The Elfen Lied watch order is short but has one wrinkle: 13 television episodes plus a single OVA that belongs in the middle rather than at the end. Begin with Episodes 1-10, then watch the Elfen Lied OVA — often numbered as episode 10.5 — before finishing with Episodes 11-13. Slotting the OVA into that gap is the correct order, since it falls chronologically between the tenth and eleventh episodes rather than after the finale. This 2004 Arms production blends horror, drama and psychological tension as the Diclonius Lucy cuts a bloody path while a gentler side of her forms bonds with the people who take her in. There are no movies to track down and nothing else to route around, so the complete viewing is simply the ten episodes, the OVA, then the final three. Start at Episode 1 and remember to pause for the OVA before the last stretch.

Start here. Episodes 1-10 (July 2004): the escaped Diclonius Lucy is taken in by Kouta and Yuka. Very violent.
#2 · 1 entry
Optional OVA (2005), often called episode 10.5: a side episode set during episode 11, centred on Nana.
#3 · 1 entry
Episodes 11-13 (October 2004): the final three episodes of the series.

The OVA is optional; it adds a side episode but no new plot turns.
Watch Elfen Lied in this order. 3 entries, chronological.
AnimeChrono watch orders put every season, movie, OVA, ONA and special for a franchise in chronological story order, the order the events happen. When an OVA or movie takes place partway through a season, the episode range is split so it sits where it belongs. Entries you can skip are marked optional, and each order says where to start. Release order, sorted by air date, is a secondary view once every entry has a date. The orders began as a hand-curated set, and episode counts and air dates come from AniList. Fans maintain the orders from there. Any signed-in user can edit one. Edits from trusted contributors go live right away and the rest are reviewed first. Every change is versioned and can be reverted, and each order shows when it was last updated and last checked.
