Also known as Uchuu Senkan Yamato, Star Blazers, Space Cruiser Yamato, Yamato 2199, Star Blazers 2199, Star Blazers 2202, Star Blazers 2205, Star Blazers 3199, Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199, Yamato yo Towa ni: REBEL3199
Where to start Space Battleship Yamato: begin with Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (2012), episode 1, for the modern remake series, or with the 1974 TV series, episode 1, for the original saga. This Space Battleship Yamato watch order (also known as Star Blazers) lists both continuities in story order. The original saga runs the 1974 series (Episodes 1-26), Yamato 2 (Episodes 1-26), The New Voyage, Be Forever Yamato, Yamato III (Episodes 1-25) and Final Yamato. Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato (1978) tells the Comet Empire story with a different, final ending, so it is an optional alternate to Yamato 2, which is the version the later sequels follow. The remake series runs 2199 (Episodes 1-26), 2202 (Episodes 1-26), 2205 (Episodes 1-8) and 3199 (Episodes 1-26), each remaking part of the original. The seventh and final chapter of 3199 opened in Japan on October 30, 2026. A separate new film, Cosmoship Yamato √2199, was announced on October 6, 2026 with no date yet.

How this order works
AnimeChrono watch orders put every season, movie, OVA, ONA and special for a franchise in chronological story order, the order the events happen. When an OVA or movie takes place partway through a season, the episode range is split so it sits where it belongs. Entries you can skip are marked optional, and each order says where to start. Release order, sorted by air date, is a secondary view once every entry has a date. The orders began as a hand-curated set, and episode counts and air dates come from AniList. Fans maintain the orders from there. Any signed-in user can edit one. Edits from trusted contributors go live right away and the rest are reviewed first. Every change is versioned and can be reverted, and each order shows when it was last updated and last checked.
