The Ancient Magus Bride Watch Order
9 entries · · community-maintained
Also known as The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star, Mahoutsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito
The Ancient Magus' Bride watch order begins not with the TV series but with the three-part prequel OVA Those Awaiting a Star, which sets up Chise's backstory before the main show. After that OVA and the short MahoYome: Aisatsu, watch the first season's Episodes 1-24, then the second season's Episodes 1-24 to continue the story. Following the seasons, the recap special and the Gakuin-hen (College Arc) ONA round out the franchise. Watching the prequel OVA first is the recommended order because it enriches the opening episodes, though newcomers can also start at Episode 1 and circle back — either way, this page makes the sequence clear. The fantasy drama follows Chise and the mage Elias, and keeping the OVAs and ONA in their proper slots relative to the two 24-episode seasons ensures the emotional arc lands as intended. This is the correct order including all OVAs for the complete experience.

How this order works
AnimeChrono watch orders put every season, movie, OVA, ONA and special for a franchise in chronological story order, the order the events happen. When an OVA or movie takes place partway through a season, the episode range is split so it sits where it belongs. Entries you can skip are marked optional, and each order says where to start. Release order, sorted by air date, is a secondary view once every entry has a date. The orders began as a hand-curated set, and episode counts and air dates come from AniList. Fans maintain the orders from there. Any signed-in user can edit one. Edits from trusted contributors go live right away and the rest are reviewed first. Every change is versioned and can be reverted, and each order shows when it was last updated and last checked.
